Screamscape confrims that famous tv series Simpsons is going to be themed into Back to the future: the ride and BTTF will face its permanent closrue at September. Although it is a rumor but I get to tell you this come from a very reliable source so I believe it is very true. I have to say I am kind of disappointed by Universal's decision to take out BTTF not only because is the ture ICON of Universal, but Simpons is not very my kind of thing.

I like the idea. I can't ride BTTF anymore and it seems to be the most popular ride to skip these days. I think a Simpsons ride will be interesting, to say the least! I really don't care what they replace it with, as long as they replace it.

Thanks for the scoop. Let's just hope that they revamp the roughness of the ride and not just replace the scenery though. (Did I even make any sense?!)

NOTHING IS OFFICIAL TILL UNIVERSAL SAYS IT IS.

This is a rumour. Got it? Thank you.

That will really keep them out of US. US is having so much financial difficulty and they come up with this? To replace a beloved ride? I guess their engineers are called unimagineers?

i would think so, since Simpsons will attract smaller kids.....i see another Jimmy Neutron ride in the works....... .......that is, provided the rumor is true!

Of coarse that made sense. BTTF is a simulator, and for half the people, it tricks the brain and makes them sick. Close the ride, and use the building as a queue for a new coaster that will launch to the open piece of land next to MIB.

It doesn't seem that the ride is that "beloved" anymore. Most of the market that loved the movies can no longer ride it, because it's so rough. The younger generation that can ride it doesn't have a similar nostalgia for the movies. On our last 3 visits, my DH & I didn't ride it at all. Our DS & DNephew or DNeice (different trips) rode it once each trip, then didn't want to ride it again. I hate to see it go, just because that's another piece of our past that's going by the wayside. On the other hand, I can totally understand why it may.

I really hope a new ride will be less rough, as Jodie suggested. I'm also hoping it won't be another Jimmy Neutron. Spiderman is the most advanced ride I've ever ridden. I've been kind of disappointed with Universal's newest attraction unveilings, because I was expecting Spidey quality or better. IMHO, Mummy's closest, but still not quite the same caliber. So, I'm still waiting for them to outdo the webbed on. :charac4:

No more than Disney's unimagineers. BTTF has been panned by many trip reports recently as being too rough, and lets face it, simulator rides like BTTF stopped being built a decade ago, they were never as popular as was predicted.

I used to ride BTTF constantly when it first opened, but now it's just not exciting anymore compared to the rest of the rides at US/IOA.

As for the Simpsons rumor, back when IOA opened there was another rumor about a Simpsons area and the ride was about going on the school bus with the hippie driver (whatshisname?), so this rumor isnt entirely out of the question.

Need I bring up Mr. Toad's Wild Ride? Enough said.

Quoted for truth.

*IF* it turns out to be true... :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

I dont know how I feel about this rumor yet. One part of me wants BTTF "fixed" since I havent, wont, cant, ride it in a very long time. I miss it so much though. But it isnt doing me much good not riding it.

On the other hand the promise of something new is exciting, just not sure how exciting The Simpsons will be. I guess time will tell and maybe Universal will let us in on something new if thats the route they go!

20,000 Leagues under the Sea is a good example too

Edit: I'd also like to point out that if this is true, its yet another USF new ride without IOA getting anything new (besides the Seuss Trolley) for a long time now

I found Jimmy Neutron to be the roughest ride in the park - with BTTF second. They *both* make my head hurt. I keep trying to give JN another chance - ride it at a different time of day, ride it before eating, ride it after eating. It just doesn't work for me. If it were easier to manage, and a bit more grown-up friendly, I'd keep trying.

No doubt there are those who love it - and I'm glad it works for you.

As for BTTF - I think I'm finally ready to give up that one as well, though it does seem like such an iconic attraction of the park.

A Simpsons ride? Great. They went from 1985 to 1990. :sad2:

the last time I checked, the simpsons are still producing new episodes each year since 1989, the longest running animated series of all time. not to mention syndication or the new movie.

WDW is still hypeing a horrible attraction around 2002's Lilo and Stitch, and working on a two Monster's Inc. attractions from 2001. they're not exactly keeping up with current movies. not to mention 2 of the 3 attractions aren't based on original Disney movies and/or characters.

and it's still a rumor, so go have a shot of red kool-aid, you'll feel better.

Simpsons is hugely popular and is usually in the top 20 shows watched each week. You can still watch all the old episodes and it is still in production. There is a Simpsons movie also coming out (in 2007?) that will probably be tied in here somehow.

[from trailer]
Announcer: [shows a Superman logo on a blue background] In 2007, leaping his way onto the silver screen, the greatest hero in American history.
Homer Simpson: [camera zooms out to show Homer in a Superman shirt and underwear] I forgot what I was supposed to say.
Announcer: The Simpsons Movie. Opening worldwide July 27, 2007.
Homer Simpson: Uh, oh, we better get started.
Montgomery Burns: [in background] Excellent.
