Rumor no longer...it's offically news!

Hi All,

Thanks for all of the encouragments and kind words.

Emma and Mommy came home today! In fact Emma was released from the NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit 2 days ago. Since she was delivered by Cesarean Section, she had a little fluid in her lungs which would have been "squeezed out" during a normal delivery, so she was taken to NICU for some monitoring.

While it was discomforting seeing her with the various tubes and such (which I guess weren't used but setup as a precaution), I found out how truely blessed I was by looking around the unit during my almost constant vigil by Emma's crib. The poor baby next to Emma was only 2 1/2 Lbs. My hat is definitly off to those who work in these type of units. So needless to say it was a great relief when the nurse woke my wife and myself up at 5:30 in the morning on Friday to let us know Emma was being released from NICU and being delivered to our room for the rest of our stay! :)

As for how this changes my family...it will be interesting :) I have a 5 year old step son whom I raise as if he were my own. He's the greatest kid I think I've ever met and he's been an absolute wonder through this whole ordeal....from being ultra patient in a boring hospital room, to making sure my wife (and his mommy) is not hurting, to taking an active role in his sisters short life (he LOVES helping to feed & hold her). Just a fantastic kid.

I remember after I met my wife and our first trip to Disney as a family in Jan 2000. It definitly made the trip MUCH different than my previous trips as a single male :)

That said, I do not plan on heading to WDW until some MAJOR changes start happening....in my view it's too expensive of a trip for what you get. I know that's not always the most popular opinon around here, but hey that's why I'm riding in Car 4. And let me tell you it sucks.

But at any rate I just wanted to give you all an update on Emma and thank you all for the kind words! If I get around to it this week, I'll post some pics to the web and post a link to them here.
