Rumor: Full The Force Awakens trailer to debut during Monday Night Football

I'll definitely keep an eye out for this. I'm not normally excited about trailers, but for this, I can't wait to see more!

Who's got tickets? I went up to the theater last night and waited around until they went on sale. There was a decent crowd. After the trailer hit internet we all were watching it on our phones. Awesome trailer!

I wanted to but the closest theater for us that had presale tickets is over an hour away. Being that close to Christmas and having a newborn in the house, I think I'm better off waiting until it opens to make sure my schedule is free. This is hard as I remember camping 17 hours to score premiere tickets to Episode I and went dressed as Darth Maul. Episode II we bought online and I went dressed as a Padawan. Episode III I also went to the premiere but not dressed (the girl that did my costumes had broken up with me..haha). It's weird not being able to go to the opening, but I guess things change when you have kids anyway. I'll get there opening weekend, Lord willing.

This was the best trailer I have ever seen. It was amazing. The music was fantastic and built beautifully. The right connections were made. Beautiful visuals that already beat all the prequels - and only with a trailer! The story is going to be good, they are working in the new characters and old very well. If you have seen the trailer go watch the instragram videos of Daisy Ridley and John Boyega (the newcomers) watching the trailer for the first time with the rest of us. They were funny and adorable. Daisy actually got teary eyed with emotion. It is fun watching these young people who have the tiger by the tale and realize it. Daisy is only 23 and is about to become one of the biggest movie stars. Hope she rides the wave well and stays healthy.

This movie will be awesome.

I agree. Everything about this one looks and feels right. I never had a problem with the prequels being CGI simply because it was the latest technology. The originals were the latest technology in their time as well. That said, I felt the prequels were missing on quality story telling. That element is what makes a movie great...not the SFX. I'm hoping the story for this one is good (i've been trying to avoid rumors like crazy). I agree that the reactions of the cast members watching the trailer are great! But what I'm really happy about is that JJ Abrams has kept as much of this film in the dark as he possibly can so that it isn't ruined. Most trailers these days tell the entire story...which makes me not want to shell out money for a night at the movies.

Excited there, skip? ;)

I agree that the trailers were very well done. I'm fascinated by the story arc...I can't wait to see what they've done with it.

But I gotta say...I've been wrong before.

There's a 10 minute clip on YouTube - I think it's from the people vs George Lucas...describing what went wrong with the phantom menace...and it's like the Rosetta Stone of the entire franchise as it stands...all the producers staring at each other looking puzzled, Lucas making 100% false predictions during production and bumbling the directing, and the reaction after the screening of the rough cut that leads to a complaint session. And George basically saying "well...it's awful, but it's too late to do anything about it...we can't cut anything"

Almost a total disregard for the fandom and a lack of pride in the work.

It would be like Disney ordering purple lederhosen for the mickeys...but sending them out into the parks nonetheless because "we paid cash and can't get our money back".

Jj Abrams is the most important man in Hollywood right now by a nautical mile...period. What a burden to bare - an awesome one - but still.

I do worry about some of the things in his two Star Trek movies - it got too popcorny - and the dead ends of the lost series. I also think that it's puzzling that they already have completely different crews for 8 and 9...that seems like an odd play up front - but could turn out to be genius if you get new energy/vigor each time.

Lots of questions...very exciting. But not on a 7 year old level like 1999.

I already have the plot roughed out in my head and I can't wait to see if I'm close/got any of it right.

There's a definite nostalgia approach that we've scene in the trailers and promotional material to this point. That's the right call - as in if they bring all of us old fuddies who are aware of what the original feeling was back into this thing - the younger generation will follow along and be there. The mistake of the prequels.

I've watched the trailer probably 15 times so far...if only for the soundtrack. Johnny W is on - as always...the new arrangement of Yoda's theme as the falcon dips and dives is nerve tingling...happy, somber, and almost elegant at the same time.

Let's just get to this...hopefully it's a new Genesis.

And build me a decent damn ride in the park...while you're at it!!! ;)

So far, the things Lucas Film, Kathleen, and Disney have done seems to show a respect for the cultural significance of Star Wars and a respect for the fans. The clips, teasers, and trailers seem to say the same thing.

J.J. Abrams has skills, he is a great director. However, I agree about the popcorn. J.J. has some weaknesses. I get tired of the shaky-shaky camera and lens flare. I did not like the reboot of Star Wars with time travel and a changed canon. However... I think Disney has him under control. Kathleen keeps an eye on things. No reboot, no canon change, real respect for the original stories, and I didn't see a lot of camera shake. There was that lens flare, but, I'll take it.

I think a good studio, like Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Marvel keep the right level of control over directors to ensure quality while allowing the directors to work. Fantastic 4 was a bomb because Fox would fire the director and start over. Pixar went back to square one on The Good Dinosaur. It will be interesting to see how good the movie is after the rework. I think the control Lucasfilm exercises will make future installments successful even when changing crews. Rogue 1 will be an interesting test. If the first two movies are good, the sky will not be the limit, it will be somewhere around Pluto. Lets hope they get this right. So far so good.

About the trailer: Yes, to the nostalgia. Excellent and well handled. The whole, "It's true..." while the audience is saying, "Yes it is! We were there!" I also really loved the way they did the music. Starting off so subtle and building at the right time. Somebody should get an award for that trailer.

And Disney has been pulling out all the stops: Perfect marketing, cool tweets like doing a Han Solo to Mark Zuckerberg, BB-8 watching the trailer under a blanket as a hilarious spoof of Daisy Ridley's emotional video. Even the stupid racist trolls tweeting out a boycott did nothing but help Disney.

Now if the movie is anywhere near as good as the trailer people will line up to throw money at Disney. If it is a bad movie it will make lots of money anyway like the prequels. If it is a good movie it will make something with a B in front plus extra change. If it is a great movie... who knows?! 2B? 3? There is no knowing as it will be uncharted territory.

We shall see...
