Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Disney will need to figure out how to manage current reservations no matter when or how they open. Even if they open all parks , resorts may not be opened. Even if the resorts are open, people still may not want to go “as is” with all this restrictions.

There will be people PO’d if Disney decides to open the day after their check in date and have to cancel their whole vacation. Etc.

no matter what Disney does some people will be upset. That’s the only given in all of this.

I don't know if the phased reopening plan is still a thing now with Universal opening all parks including the water park. Why go to Disney for half their parks when you can go to Universal and get the full experience?
You might want to wait to see what the phased reopening at Disney is before you make that statement. One park at Disney would be better than all of Universal for me. Other than Harry Potter, Universal is pretty lackluster.

If someone is holding on to a June reservation who is going to be upset with the restrictions, it’s on them. There’s been a lot of information about likely limitations for the past couple weeks. If someone was bothered by that, they probably should go ahead and cancel.

Thats always been the case with Disney, and always will be. On any given day at the parks there are people complaining to CMs that their trip wasnt perfect enough in comparison to what they paid. Disney is well aware that those people will always be there, pandemic or not. I dont understand why people think Disney will be caught off guard by upset guests when they reopen.

I have a June 15th reservation. If they’re open, I’m going. I’m aware of all the possible restrictions , as is my girlfriend. We’re both on board with whatever Disney asks of us. The only way I dont go is if the resorts arent open, or they charge us for tickets despite being APs

I won't go if only one or two parks are open in August. I just hope we will know in time to get a refund. That's all I ask. We're coming from too far to have the experience be reduced that much.

I think the only park that could potentially be closed at that point would be Epcot and I don’t even think that would be the case.

True enough. At least on here. But some people aren’t in the know oddly.
Just having some finality of a date will just help a lot of people move on.
I am only keeping my reservation in case Disney offers some sort of compensation for being cancelled, but it doesn’t seem they may even do that anymore (Like they did with free dining for those cancelled in March and April) . Just way too many people affected.

I think you’ll see an offer announced relatively soon. They probably didn’t want to start rebooking people on an offer again until they knew when they were going to open. Free dining also might be a mess if table service dining is significantly restricted.

I think MK is the only Disney park I'd take on it's own over the entire USO Resort. Maaaaaybe DHS. But Hagrid's is the most fun ride in Orlando IMO and the other Harry Potter rides and entire lands are amazing. Plus Hulk, Spidey, Mummy, and my favorite shooting ride MIB. But to each their own.

That said, we go to Disney probably 10 times for every 1 visit to Universal.

I haven't even been to Universal since I was a kid (1995) and I already know I'd rather go there than only one or two parks at Disney. We would feel too sad missing out on it all. Nothing compares to the whole deal. I'm afraid to know the plans tomorrow. The rumors have laid eggs in my brain.

Here's my guess:
  • I think "phased reopening" refers to something similar to what UO is doing (TM first, then AP, then everyone).
  • I think "phased reopening" could also refer to capacity phases, starting at 25% or whatever, then "phasing up" capacity over time.
  • I think "phased reopening" might also refer to stages of reopening certain attractions. At first there will probably not be character greetings, parades, fireworks, shows, etc. and these will be gradually phased back in.
I don't think "phased reopening" necessarily means all four parks won't open at the same time.

Honestly going right before or right after Hurricanes is a great time to go. This could be very similar. Low attendance if you can put up with some restrictions. Granted bad weather is different than this.

Anyone taking guesses as to which parks will open first? Or which won't open immediately?

My money's on MK and AK opening first, EP staying closed until Fall, and DHS being a tossup. Also, no waterparks for a while.
I would think walkable parks would open first . With 5 Epcot and HS resorts needing no busses to transport. Yes boats but still within walking distance ( boats shut during storms) .
Also MK being walkable. I think AK will open last .

I look at it from a value perspective. I wouldn't pay my lawn guy to mow half my yard because I like his mower better.

I get horrible motion sickness & can’t do roller coasters or simulator rides. There is very little I can do at universal compared to what I can do at WDW. So I get no value there compared to Disney parks. Value is a very individualized perspective.
