Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I did my fast passes yesterday and to me it seemed like a normal process, no surprises at all. I'm hoping your second opinion is true .
That's what I am hoping too - that Disney is NOT limiting FP availability anymore for July because they expect that if the parks are open, the attractions will run FP capacity similar to how it had been done pre-closure . 🤞

My family voted to still keep our reservation for June 8th-17th. We're DVC, so I'm anxiously awaiting any news. There have been no changes to our MDE page. All fastpasses and tickets remain intact.
I really don't want to wait until early June to make any changes. This trip was made to celebrate multiple graduates, so I let them make the call. The tension is real, though. Hope we get some good news! Good luck everyone, and hang in there!!
If the past few weeks are any indication you probably will get the cancellation today or tomorrow. But really no reason to cancel it yourself at this point. Just wait for Disney to cancel it or announce they are open.

And this is a serious question, not a snarky one: Even if they did open, and announce all sorts of restrictions/modifications, would you still go? To me, it feels like a waste of money to pay for a "normal" Disney vacation and get "half" a Disney vacation due to all the restrictions. I'd let the locals go to the parks and report what the parks look and feel like before committing to a full-on Disney vacation.

At this point, I all but guarantee on the parks not being open for my trip (June 16-20), but I don't expect Disney to actually cancel it until a week from now. (Which is frustrating, but understandable).

So the question is:
Is Disney STILL limiting the FP availability, but there are fewer guests in July because many have cancelled due to the many factors being discussed in this thread (guests are not liking the modifications, guests are looking at alternate vacations since Disney has not announced a reopening and keeps cancelling 3 weeks out, concern about health, etc.).

Or

Is Disney NOT limiting FP availability anymore for July because they expect that if the parks are open, the attractions will run FP capacity similar to how it had been done pre-closure?
I'd say there are just fewer guests in July. The people who already got burned twice probably aren't rebooking and a bunch of people that are probably just waiting to see WHEN Disney will actually open. There is also a vast group of people in the country that just are not going to be vacationing "as normal" this summer.

Sorta crazy that Disney hasn't announced any details on how they are going to reopen, but are still letting guests book and plan vacations in July and beyond "as normal".

Same here. FP for July was much like my March canceled trip. I had a June trip in there with horrible FP options that I bumped into July before Disney started canceling. In June I couldn't get SDD or 7DMT any day, got both for 1:00ish in July.

For us, it isn't a choice. I rented DVC points. They will expire and if we don't use them, we are out the money. My owner has been awesome to work with and has rescheduled the trip 3 times, because DVC extended some points out. But, when they expire, they expire and I would have no lodging. I don't want to go with all of this, but I can't swallow losing all that money at this point. I could change my mind, but at this point, I'm still hoping for the best.

I would go because we do about 2 trips a year. But if I only went every couple of years or I had been saving up for this trip and it was my first time, then no I wouldn't go and would wait until next year. It's also just my husband and I and we are in our late 20's, but if I had children I'm not sure if I would bring them or not. I guess it would depend on their ages. I think kids would be happy to go to Disney regardless of restrictions, same with me lol.

Audio message that will be played at Disney Springs

Are those announcements just going to be repeated everywhere? Not just the entrance?

Probably an unpopular opinion . .but are these messages really necessary? EVERYONE knows about "social distancing" and "wash your hands' and "don't touch your face" for like 3 months now unless you are living under a rock. Plus there are signs EVERYWHERE now (in every store/restaurant, etc.). Just let people escape it for a bit. It will feel like you are in an airport (with the constant safety announcements) and not a fun, themed shopping district. Just saying .. a little bit of the "magic" is lost with those announcements.

Hopefully -- like a lot of these changes-- will be very temporary.

June had terrible FP selections! I've never gotten a Slinky FP, EVER! i was able to get mine train and smugglers run. but sadly no runaway railway :(

They have to cover themselves.

Just keep in mind DVC isn’t being cancelled at the same time as cash rooms. So you won’t get a cancellation email for June today or tomorrow. They seem to be operating 5 days prior to check in with their cancellations. Rule of thumb is though, if you see cash rooms are cancelled for the time you’ll be there, yours will be cancelled as well, just not until much closer to check in

If Disney waited til next year you probably wouldn't have to worry about it. For now you will hear constant reminders all day long. Don't be surprised to see the same in the parks. They did create a team of CMs that are there to just remind people. We all want to escape this.

My grocery store plays a message like this on a loop as well. I probably hear it 4-6 times during my time at the store.

My thoughts are the international travelers, who at this point likely can't even get flights to the U.S. this summer, are either already cancelling their trips or just not booking for July and August. Hence, more FP availability.

Our trip is 6/27-7/11. When we booked our fp's, the top rides were booking 4 days out. Availability for all the top rides was gone until we hit 4 days out. We did pretty much get whatever we wanted starting around the 6th of July. I do think they had cut back on availability but it also leads me to believe some of the tight availability has to do with the holiday. I know not all of July was easy to book. But that they were hard to get also tells me they might use the FP system rather than move to a queue system.

Not sure if this was posted but I just saw this when checking MDE on my phone. I have a scheduled July trip. View attachment 495753
Iso I clicked learn more and it takes you to a page about DS opening and lists all of the requirements. I have mixed feelings on this TBH. Post says you must follow all the rules and obviously states covid is serious and reminds everybody to play nice. So that’s good. And I’m no lawyer but I imagine this indemnifies them to some degree from the people wondering if they could be found liable if people get it there
BUT here is where it disappoints me. Where they obviously are covering themselves from any fallout of an outbreak occurs it needs another line. There is no mention of what will happen if you DON’T follow the rules. In order for me to accept the risk they so clearly lay before me There needs to be a line that says “failure to adhere to these policies could result in ejection”. Overkill? Maybe. But based on what I’ve seen here there will be plenty of folks willing to disregard certain policies and then claim they can’t be thrown out because it doesn’t say that. IMHO this could lead to conflicts between guests. I know, if you don’t like it or are scared don’t go. So let me say I’m not going so save those posts. But there are plenty that want to go and would do so with safety precautions and they deserve to know they will be enforced.

I do think people can learn though, and just get more used to things. Our grocery store has had the one way aisles for a few weeks now and I have gone a few times and each time it is clear people are better about obeying they directions than the last as they get more used to it. Still not 100% of course but better over time

I’ve switched to pickup since Fry’s offers it for free now.

Totally agree ! It's like trying to enjoy a TV show at night (Big Bang Theory" is my escape) and hearing another Covid-19 commercial every 5 mins!

I am not familiar with this. Will you please explain what this is/was? Thanks!
