Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I would think a LOT of people would postpone their trips with no pools.

We should make a little poll of like the Top 5 things that, if "modified", would cause you to cancel or postpone your trip. (And remember this is just people's opinion's - this is how people feel - this simply means that they don't find value in WDW as a vacation destination if some things are changed - (just not worth the time/money) - no judging needed:

For me, I think I would consider postponing my trip if (in this order, where #1 is the one I would most consider postponing my trip if it was like that):

1 - No M&Gs at all (have little kids they love them and we love the photos)
2 - No pool access at all (it's hot down there. Taking a day off to splash in the highly themed pools is a big part of the value of staying at a disney resort)
3 - No indoor theatres (the parks have a lot of fun indoor theater shows that are family friendly for families with young kids)
4 - No Disney transportation - or heavily modified - (not sure how they would have resorts open without buses, but I could see it being really inconvenient if certain transportation wasn't running or they made buses run half empty)
5 - Required masks outside - (I am not trying to start the debate, I am just saying personally, I would find it too uncomfortable for me and the kids, so maybe just wait until they are not required).

Again . .this is from the perspective of someone who would come down for a 4-5 day vacation, and things things would change based on family preferences.

What about you?
I'm not sure where all this "no pool" speculation is coming from. The guidelines that were released only mentioned that there would need to be increased spacing between pool chairs. There was no mention of closing pools. At worst, I think we're looking at reduced capacity.

Oh god, I'm going to whine about the clear bag rumor. I used a small over the shoulder cross-body for parks to hold wallet, cell phone and lip gloss, kleenex, etc and sometimes personal items.
I don't want to carry a clear bag.

Not a deal breaker.

Just get the stupid x-ray machines.

1. No night shows
2. Significant attraction closures
3. Masks
4. No food/beverage allowed in
5. Water Park closures
6. Increased ticket cost and/or Offsite entry excluded

I got a C in Biology so someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm preeeeeeeetty sure your body's self-regulation of internal temperature (i.e. sweating when it's hot) means that the outside temp has no effect on your internal temp. If you're in 100+ degree heat and not sweating you need to immediately see a doctor!

I don’t really sweat. It’s a genetic thing. My brother and sister are the same. I run 2- 3 miles every day in the Florida heat and it takes a lot to get even a little sweaty.

I do not believe clear bags will be required. Suggested likeky and a way not to have anybody touch or open your bag and possibly extra faster security lines if you have them but don’t expect it to be a hard requirement.

Mine:
1. pools closed
2. no ts
3. no indoor rides

But it'd probably take all 3 of these to get me to cancel. I went to WDW quite a bit last year, so we can adjust our expectations for this trip.
We'll be back...:earsgirl:

Understandable!
The only thing that would stop me from going is if the world was going to heck in a handbasket, and it became unsafe to leave home again. Honestly, we're talkin New York City on a national level. Other than that, I have already been designing fabric and making my own masks using static filtration and special filters along with cotton. I'm making them to be as decorative as Mickey ears.

I will be bummed if my fireworks party in Magic Kingdom is canceled, but I'm assuming that will come back some point in the future. I'm also staying at boardwalk and Bay lake tower to minimize transportation.

Edit: I'm going to be honest; I booked biergarten in hopes that it might actually a comfortable experience if they implement social distancing. It's my only chance to actually enjoy going there! 😂
I'm laughing at Biergarten lol, I told DH the same thing! I went one time ages ago with a friend and was miserable. I enjoyed the food and drink, but the seating was a bit much, especially considering the dude next to me was already mostly drunk when he sat down and got his first beer (life of the party...not MY party, but his party certainly lol). My DH has never been and doesn't understand why I wouldn't want to have that lively atmosphere and be seperated from other parties. I'm just hoping Epcot actually opens so we can go, I have a back up for both Epcot ADRs we have, but I'd rather do those *fingers crossed*

I was also thinking of doing a fireworks party at MK, I LOVE them, but I've put off booking it for now. I do have VAH tickets for July 10 and am REALLY hoping it still happens, but understand it may get canceled too. No harm done, still get our money back, but I'd rather go to the event.

I can't sew but have been stocking myself up with masks for our trip. If I have to wear a mask I refuse to let it get me down or ruin my trip in any way.

Based on the responses . .i think Disney is constantly evaluating those "Deal breakers" for families. They must realize that significant changes will just keep a lot of the out-of-state guests away, but they may be okay with that for a while until we are sure how the virus will trend over the summer.

Even though a lot of people are itching to go back to the Magic, it may be a while before people feel they WANT to. Disney may struggle this summer (and that's okay -- since they probably want to have limited capacity and just not lose money every day for not being open at all).

Again .. for me .. i doubt any ONE thing being closed would make my Disney experience miserable, but for me it comes down to value for money. It will just bother me to be paying the SAME for potentially a LOT less.

I think you hit the nail on the head

Mine:

1. No bars/lounges open - I need my Trader Sam's, Nomad Lounge, Cava del Tequila, etc.
2. Significantly reduced rides and attractions
3. No/limited transportation

I'd also really hate clear bags, not sure if that would even contribute to canceling a trip though.

Once they open with limited capacity the capacity level will increase rather quickly, probably along the lines of the 2 weeks the phases are running, that would put them easily at 100% within two months of opening, and realistically 100% sooner than that on traditionally non-busy days, which are few and far between though, even prior to the shutdown.

Clear bags wouldn’t be an issue for me. We haven’t taken a bag into a park in over a decade. Cargo shorts for me and I hold everything we could possibly need. What people need to realize though is even with a clear bag policy, little purses and handbags would still be allowed. So if you have a little wristlet or clutch, that would be fine. It would be backpack size bags that would have to be clear.

I think Disney will move much slower than state and local governments with reopening sizes. They are going to take their time as they have much more to lose in the court of public opinion. Sort of like how they’re only opening 2 “Disney” stores in DS at first. I have a feeling we won’t see 100% capacity at the parks until 2021, especially if there’s another peak in the fall/winter.

Seeing that I have DVC and AP and live 2.5 hours so can go often the biggest deal breaker for the short term is:

1. Masks , just not gonna do it

other than that for the next few months can live with out other stuff and enjoy what is open, it would probably mean more day trips/shorter trips

In 4-5 months when renewal comes I may not renew right now based on what is going on.

Agree - I think of everything, I'm MOST sure about pools being open.

My no go #1 is if they ban cargo shorts

At mk for people arriving by car they would check your temp at ttc same place they check your bag

So then it would be possible to keep pre-checked resort guests separate from day guests driving in, right? I am just trying to think logistics here, to make the process as efficient as possible while minimizing the risk to everyone. It’s definitely going to be different.

And normal purse sized bags, too, which is what I always carry. Clutches just don't fit enough to be prepared for a whole day.

Yep I hate clear bags. I have one for football games and it’s bulky and stupid. Our backpack is very small and lightweight.

Clear bags suck.
