Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I heard this last week. Players are opposed to it so I don't think it will happen.
NBA salaries are guaranteed, the players have a lot of leverage. NFL salaries are not, that's why the NFL is so gung ho. That being said, the NBA has a bit of a relationship with WDW so if the players ever came around to it, I could see it at WDW, but the players hold all the cards in the NBA.

The players on a conferrence call monday said they want to finish the season and that was a call with the major players like lebron, durant, etc. So the superstars want to return to play.

They have gotten paid up to this point, but that is not guaranteed. There is a clause in the contract between the NBA and NBPA to stop paying the players in the event of a major disruption which includes a pandemic. I expect that the NBA will finish the season somewhere during the summer.

Crisis management 101 - end all superfluous activity and deal only with the matter at hand. Resume peripheral activity only once the full impact of the crisis is understood.
It’s about risk management.

Most everyone else that I've noticed doesn't seem to share that position. None of the construction projects near me in Florida has slowed down at all (neither commercial nor residential). They are even starting new projects and new buildings.

Also I believe last I heard the new Reflections resort near Fort Wilderness has broke ground. (Although it is DVC that is building that resort). Apparently Disney corporate has a different opinion and thinks construction should stop during the pandemic. But just to be clear, it's not the state that stopped that work. And unions don't seem to be stopping work anywhere else in the state either. So it's not the unions stopping it. This is all Disney corporate.

I personally don't understand the thinking. The ongoing projects have to be completed at some point. EPCOT is all ripped up. Tron and Guardians coasters are sitting half-done. Many of these projects have already likely been funded. At this point, costs to take them apart and cancel would be just as much as completing them. Leaving unfinished construction sites sit idle is also not ideal and could get costly to resume.

I believe they are contractually obligated through broadcasting rights to air a certain amount of games that they haven’t reached yet

Right, but those other companies aren’t in a crisis like disney is. Disney corp has 3 legs. Parks, movies, & television. Parks are closed and losing $30M/day. Movie theatres are closed. And the biggest bread winner of their television segment is ESPN, but there’s no sports. They are n crisis management mode.

I like this idea for the pools. Would easily cut down on the chair hog problem, too. “Claim” a chair with your items while in the pool, so that lifeguard or other CM can help an incoming family assess capacity and redirect them if full. I’d gladly take my family to a food food court or other amenity to “wait it out.”
That would be tough with small kids who don't understand waiting though.

Yes that is with the RSNs. I think the contract is 50 games for the RSN which they have not reached.

Its not very different from being in line for a ride in the park. If the parents prepare their kids to "get in line" for the pool rather than go swimming now, kids will probably understand.

For those following SDL - how are they handling characters? Are there any face characters? Are people allowed to pose with and hug characters? Fur only? Are there characters meals?

any hint as to when Florida moves into Phase 2? No theme park can "open" until then. Is June 1st realistic or will it be later?

Learning about waiting is basically the name of the game for kids at Disney. Waiting in lines. Waiting for characters. Waiting for food. You teach your kids to wait in all those situations. This isn’t any different.

Desantis said Phase Two was weeks away, not months, from the 5/4 Phase One starting date. It's all conjecture but I would guess Phase Two begins some time before Memorial Day as long as things don't turn south, which thus far they haven't.

There’s no set timeline for the phases. There are goals that they set to achieve phase to phase, and they project 7-14 days between phases, but it’s all fluid and they can’t set dates. But Universal is calling employees back to their theme parks, so it’s an indication that they’re gearing up to open soon. Never say never until it’s official for June 1st. We’re still nearly 3 weeks away, so it’s impossible to say anything for sure.

Theme parks CAN in fact open during phase 1 according to Florida's plan

EDIT. mods delete. I looked at the wrong page of the guidlines

My mistake

I'm assuming others have seen this article on what Six Flags is doing whenever they decide to open - something very similar to SD in that you have to pre-register for specific parks and specific time entry.

https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020...ga0iKpA0F_DtAaiaNdnl8H9JjZX2sfuS-sp0LIxrSEVyA
Which I think could work in the beginning but my specific question is I bought Platinum APs for DH and I months and months ago in anticipation of our June trip which got pushed to December. Now we're scheduled for a kid-free trip in later Aug but our APs have never been activated so do I technically even HAVE a real ticket that I could register ahead of time to get a park date/time entry??
