Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

As was posted on WDWmagic site, it will take more then a couple of weeks to get things ready to open. The fact its only 3rd party properties opening at Disney Springs says a lot. It may happen July 1st but I don't see June 1st.

I think the biggest hope for June is not any of the little things people hang their hats on, but the fact that they are trying to make it happen in some fashion, or they would have made the call already.

We may see some things like CMs getting called back that look promising before we get an official announcement of an opening, but I think it’s going to be a late May call if it happens (leaning more last minute like their other official decisions).

If CMs get a working schedule this week, I think it would be somewhat of a telltale sign that the reopening is coming soon. Because of the situation changing every day, even every hour, I don’t blame Disney for not wanting to say they’re opening up 20 days in advance. Things are going to change, for better or for worse by then. And you don’t want to be hamstrung by a date that far in the future in the ever changing climate we’re currently living in. It sucks for people that have June reservations that we’re not getting full transparency, but any date in 2020 and even into 2021 could potentially be in doubt. A big company like Disney doesn’t want to put themselves out there to get battered by twice cancelled guests by saying on May 12th that they’re opening on June 1st, and then things take a turn for the worst on May 22nd and they have to say “Sorry guests that have previously had cancelled trips, we know we told you that your June trip was safe, but we’re going to have to cancel on you again. “ that’s a bad, bad look

anything on that CM schedule yet?

And so what? So could an infant. Are we going require ppl try to keep masks on babies too?? If you’re staying away from ppl it shouldn’t matter. There is a chance if you leave your house you may encounter someone with the virus. If that is something that you (collective) can’t handle, then don’t leave. This has really reached a level of hysteria at this point imo.

Follow the rules. Get in the park. With limited attendance, Disney can be picky.

It’s not hysteria. People don’t want to get sick with this and share with at risk people. You follow the rules to protect other people. It’s selfish to not care.

For sure.

I know June travellers want info from Disney, but I think the only thing they’ll be willing to say with certainty and commit to this far out (especially mid to late June reservations) is if they aren’t opening. So if you want a chance, you’ve got to keep riding the emotional roller coaster.

They have to order food supplies, put in social distancing measures, train CM's in how to deal with new measures. Plus calling them back to work. From what I understood is till you start seeing more things happening its a good chance the parks aren't opening.

But that’s not the rules yet. That’s what YOU think the rules should be. I still think Disney will make concessions for age & disabilities as they do with most things & like most other businesses are doing. It is hysteria if you (collective) are that afraid that we can’t tolerate a handful of ppl who can’t wear masks for valid reasons. It should be pretty easy to social distance from those few ppl.

Just another anecdote to throw on the pile. We have a free dining trip in August which cannot be updated online so I had to call late last week to change our resort to POR. The CM on the phone asked me if I wanted 5th sleeper standard view, 5th sleeper water view or 5th sleeper garden view. 5th sleeper is only the AB section of the resort and while I always request it, we never get it. Interesting that only the 5th sleepers were being offered, no mansions. Could be a way to keep bookings to only one half of the resort as they keep capacity limited?

Eh, all of that takes maybe a week. We don’t know for certain what is, and isn’t taking place in the parks. Last week people were talking about it taking months to get the rides back up and running after a long shutdown, then the news video surfaced showing rides were being run. Unless someone working with their food supplier said Disney hasn’t made any orders from them, we dont know for sure they haven’t. Same with putting social distancing measures in.

the only thing we know for sure is that CM’s haven’t been called back yet, and retraining them might take a week to 10 days

In the grand scheme of things, we won’t know until they tell us. And there’s no indication they’re planning to tell us anything concrete any time soon.

If I need a mask to shop at Costco or REI, why wouldn’t I need one for Disney? I can’t see them opening up without this rule.

Replying to my post from earlier today. It appears that WDW is indeed starting to cancel reservations taking place during the first week of June that were booked directly with Disney (cash). Here is a report of a guest staying at Poly who had their first week of June reservation cancelled by Disney:

I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't know that I believe that post. I've asked her for a screenshot and she hasn't shared. In looking at her prior posts, it looks like today was the first time she's posted since 2014. Seems a bit off. But again, maybe I'm wrong.

No I think you’re right to feel that way. I’m skeptical of Disney initiated cancellations until we see more than one or two people reporting them happening.

I don't need a mask to shop at any of the stores I frequent, does that mean they won't be required at Disney? Just saying...

They're not required in Florida from my understanding either. Not saying they won't be required initially, but WDW and Costco are very different places so just because Costco requires it, doesn't mean Disney will.

I’m talking strictly about concessions for age & disabilities. I don’t know about those places you mentioned, but airlines & most places here have said they’re not required for 2 & under. I don’t know about disabilities, but I would be willing to bet concessions will be made.

Especially when a Mod just said that he spoke to a CM and they have no record of June cancellations occurring yet. The cancellations could be legit, but until we see more proof, I’m going to take a Mod’s word

That would be possible. I thought I heard the Magnolia section was going to have remodeling soon, though?!?
