Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I can see some of the DVC hotels opening up to anyone but parks for residents only.
Its really the only way to limit capacity. I could even see them saying you have to pre-book your day to go to the park.

Florida's governor spoke with Disney and yesterday he said...

"It’s amazing the ideas that the businesses are already thinking about. They’ve been thinking deeply about this for weeks and weeks… there’s a lot of great ideas that I’ve already seen put on the table. I’m in discussions with places like Disney. They are so far ahead of the curve, and I think everyone wants to make sure we do it safely. "

I feel as if I am starved for actual information. All of these articles and press conferences are just the same old PR junk.

Of all the articles and interviews about Florida reopening and Disney, not one of them has said anything with useful information.

Placate the people! I feel like such a sheep.

Right? This was already posted a couple of times. Easy to do when a thread moves this fast, but real news would be great. This whole "uncertain times" thing is starting to wear on me.

I agree. Disney needs to say something soon for all those people that rebooked for June now there is a good chance that resorts and restaurants will be at limited capacity.

I would be so livid if I had a trip planned. I think I would have canceled the whole thing the first time knowing how they operate.

Exactly. They lost a lot of respect that time around. If they pull that again...

It's been said before and I'll say it again - the right thing to do would have been to shut down all bookings until they know..

You know the first thing WDW could do to limit booking at the resorts?...stop taking new reservations!

WDW has gotta know that they have to run low for several MONTHS so I have no idea why they are keeping reservations for June and July open now. The interest earned cannot be enough to even break even the work it takes to field the calls from customers.

Disney just needs to go ahead and say, we don’t see ourselves opening any earlier than ..... and go ahead an cancel all the folks before then. You rebook at your own risk

Agree, maybe just allow modifications and cancellation.

It's not them same thing. At that point they stated they were closed "till the end of the month". Right now they are closed until furthur notice. Just because they are allowing bookings in June never has meant anything about a time frame other then that is the earliest they think they might open. There are people gettting reversations cancelled every day.

I just don't see why disney needs to say "we are not opening June 1" when they never said they were opening on June 1. I think their mistake was that free dining recovery option. The idea was good but the dates were not necessarilly good choices since now you may have the same people cancelled twice.

They don't take money for DVC reservations. Those have been booked for months.

But it is also a reason there is no easy remedy for DVC. With normal reservations, you can just cancel and refund deposits. With DVC, it is on points that expire. And if the shutdown is extended, many members will not be able to use their points before expiration. That's going to be a big problem because members paid dues for those points.

The minute they do that people will take that as an opening date. disney people are always going to try to find some way to figure out the opening date from anythig they can find and it isn't in their best interests to give them any information officially that isn't set in stone.

Hopefully soon they will have a plan for what is to come.

Because by even allowing booking June 1st they are implying they will be open. The big print says "Accepting reservations starting June 1st!" which is arguably advertising that they intend to be open - after all, as hundreds, if not thousands have said, "Why accept reservations if you won't be open?" Only in the tiny fine print of the Covid update section (nowhere on the main screens) does it say "June 1st or later".

They are going to be in for a world of PR hurt in the near future when they finally release their plans.

And to add to this.. "just refund the points" isn't a viable option because then you have more points them rooms available next year which could then run into issues with FL Timeshare laws. There is a balance between rooms and points and just giving points back can mess up that balance. DVC is going to have some hard decision to make that the members likely will not like.
