Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Is there any news on spaceship earth refurb - still going ahead? I wonder if as cost saving it might get postponed indefinitely.

I can imagine a bunch of people in August removing their masks once they get into the parks, then only putting them back on when a CM asks them to.
Don't forget the stiffling heat in central Florida. Masks and gloves?

Or, alternatively, neither of those things are required and they leave it up to attendees to take the risk. (Not saying they should or would, just saying it's an option). I think if they did that there would still be people willing to go without any kind of protection and just take their chances. OR, they implement these measures under the illusion of safety to make people feel better and the efficacy is suspect. Either way, we can all rest assured there is a large group of people right now behind the scenes working through the logistics/numbers/projections and trying to come up with the best solution possible, as quickly as possible, to get the business back up and running, and I trust that whatever they come up with will be the best option they could come up with (not perfect, but something.)

Or they don't leave it up to the people to effectively do the right thing (too many so-called "risk takers" under the mistaken impression that they'll be unaffected and all too willing to spread the virus) and stay closed.

This is a complete rumor (I have only heard this from personal experiences on various boards/groups) - but I have heard people are having much more difficulty with booking FP+ for June (as in, availability is much lower and they are unable to get FP+ like they normally would).

Has anyone seen any articles linked to this or heard something more concrete than some random person on the internet? Just curious. I googled and couldn't find anyway.

I guess this would make sense anyway since it is pretty obvious they won't completely reopen like normal.
Yes. This is true. I am assuming that this will cut down on the amount of FP+ booked and thus lessen the amount of people at each ride. Controlled allocation of FP bookings, at least for June. I book my FP+ in 2 weeks for July 4th arrival. I will post how it goes after I book. And yes, we are still planning on going for our tripo - July 4th to July 11th.

If I can get into the Poly with a lounge chair poolside with a Lapu Lapu I'll be happy :)
We are in the same boat! We are booked at Saratoga and just want to be at the resort, in the pool and hopefully get to eat at Diosney Springs a few times. If this happens - we will be happy considering all that has transpired. Although if they modify the park rides and water parks, I will expect an adjustment to what I have already shelled out.

One thing we know for sure is that most people want to be reassured. And wanting it will find it in the most worthless precautions. Think back to homeland security taking label small drinks but not testing giant containers for years.

IMO the masks in public are 'can't hurt' school of thought. No real evidence at all.

I'm going to watch and see how Disneylands in Asia open. It looks like they are going to make ppl wear masks everywhere except dining and have temperature checks along with the health QR green system put in place there. If that's the case idk if going to a park is an option.

Masks are required in China, and in parts of the US. It’s not just a Disneyland in Asia thing.
Temperature checks and QR color code program is a Chinese government mandated procedure. Again, not a Disneyland specific requirement.

If you don’t like to get your temperature checked, I have bad news for you. It will be commonplace once things open up more in the US. Thermal temperature monitors are already at airports. If the place you frequent has money, hopefully it will also use thermal scans. If not, likely temporal scans.

well if it’s any indication, they’ve been closed since january and still are
Parks are still closed but Disney Town and other areas are slowly starting to soft open in Shanghai so I can 100% see Disney Springs/Downtown Disney softly opening as soon as non essential retail/restaurant dining rooms get the green lights to reopen

I know this is true at one location but is this happening at all the parks in asia?

The thing with the Chinese cards is that it's not just your health they measure - to get your color, it's also your habits (since your habits can change your health before changes noticably appear - or at least, that's the Chinese governmental reason). It's a way to totally have the government level control their populace's behavior.

We also need to remember that Disney does not have 100% control over those parks, so things will more than likely not be exactly the same, as well as the US levels of caution once things open up vs. Asian countries.

One of my co-workers called to book a VIP tour in July and they are not allowed to book any tours at this time. She was told that when Disney does open, it may be in phases and that Epcot will more than likely not open at the same time as the other parks because the majority of the castmembers were sent home before they weren't able to fly home.

Not unexpected by any means but I doubt they have a firm plan that has been passed to phone CMs just yet.
