Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

With CDC's new announcement that the virus "does not spread easily by touching objects" this has to be somewhat of relief to Disney

I am sure though Disney will still go above and beyond to keep everything clean.

This wouldn’t be a smart business move by Disney. They would make way more money having the parks open on a limited basis then they would from hosting the NBA and MLS. The NBA and MLS may still be at Disney WWOS but I don’t see that affecting the parks at all.

Not to mention it would piss off a lot of ppl who got trips cancelled for this.

Depends on how much Disney is getting paid by the sports leagues. I just see having parks plus sports as a bubble burst waiting to happen. It’s all speculation though, we’ll know more tomorrow

I saw another post today that said nba and possibly mls are finalizing plans to play at wide world of sports. I believe if this is true, WDW doesn’t open until games are over due to bubble restrictions. I can see Disney closing roadways to prevent non sporting guests access. Can’t have a bunch of Disney guests trying to track down their favorite athletes. This guess could put us at a mid to late July opening, depending on how many games nba wants to play.

Yes, you’re right, if they want 2 months, it’d be longer. Again, I don’t know if they’d have one or the other or both at the same time. It’s interesting to me the higher likelihood to burst the bubble if WDW is open while the sports are going on.

I agree with that guess, generally. I think some resorts, at least DVC, might open June 15 too.

In any case, I believe Universal could open earlier so don’t buy the “they will all agree to open together” theory. They seem prepared to open asap and may choose to get a jump on Disney.

If I was Universal I would make it a priority to open before Disney and steal market share/encourage new visitors who are typically Disney loyalists.

Does anyone know if already booked reservations will be prioritized within the reduced capacity limits or should I prepare for that possible reality? I feel like I'm assuming we would be all set for August if they open before then but maybe not.

I did FPs for my July 9-13 trip and had a similar experience, no headliners were available. I typically can get some Tier 1s later in the trip, but this time no FoP for any day and no HS Tier 1s at all. So there is either more people going during this time or fewer FPs available.

I have a 7/7-14 trip scheduled, and was able to get everything I wanted. I had to wait until my 5th day to get the headliners at HS, but I think that is pretty typical pre-closure. It is probably because you have a shorter trip IMO. I did pick up a FOP FP on the 3rd day of my trip just by checking the app randomly this past weekend. I would just keep checking, especially if we hear opening plans this week.

They'll get approval when they submit plans, they're not submitting plans to will draw the rebuke of Orange County. So 2-4 weeks from tomorrow.
