Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

They were eating and drinking outside? Did you see a lot of that?

I was at an event last night where I had to wear a mask but had to talk a lot, which meant I had to drink a lot of water. Drinking water and wearing a mask is very awkward. I tore the mask once taking it down to drink. I also kept thinking of the contamination I was putting on the mask every time I touched it- which was a lot.

Does anyone have one of these?

yes, theres a lot of places to sit and eat and drink at Citywalk

As someone who has lived in Central Florida my entire life, I can say it certainly takes a LOT for a person to pass out from heat stroke. Last summer (July) I redid my entire front and back garden. Back breaking work, lugging 20lb bags of soil and fertilizer, manually pulling weeds and rooted grasses from inside the flower beds, digging holes and planting sometimes over 20 plants over a 4-5 hours period in a day-in the middle of the day. Temps close to 100*, humidity sky high, and while I did of course sweat a lot and took a couple of breaks to get some water and stand under an A/C vent in my house I did not feel like I was going to pass out even once. If someone has a condition where they easily pass out, they probably should not visit Florida in the summer.
I've coached football in central Florida for 12 years and I'm going to go ahead and politely disagree with this. When you're acclimated and properly hydrated, yes you probably won't have a problem, but I see kids every year struggling with heat, and the FHSAA has strict water, equipment, and rest rules specifically because of this. These are born and raised kids from cracker country who need to stop because they're near a heat related illness. I'd feel awful for guests from up north who slap a mask on in July or August and aren't used to the heat.

OK - someone needs to design a mask with a zipper.

At great risk of kicking up the m word debate- how was walking around in one?
my honest opinion, after 2 hours, in the sun mostly, it's not really undoable, of course no one wants to go around with one, but it's not horrible. The worst part was the elastic around my ears. But I have to say that I worked with a mask for 8 hours in a/c for 2 weeks so I have gotten used to it.
Most people I saw were wearing them correctly, didn't fidget with them too much

This is why I think they’ll open after July 4th.

me too for severall reasons. A holiday weekend as one is your first weekends with new procedures when trying to limit capacity is an issue. Likely higher bookings for a holiday weekend.

if I were Disney id look at something like Monday July 6. Get past the holiday and open on a Monday not the weekend.

Most people who don't live in Florida in the summer, just don't get it. Northerners routinely underestimate the Florida sun. You see them come down here and make the same mistake....they lay out in the sun without sunscreen and turn into lobsters within an hour. This isn't like a hot day in New York. Tropical heat is a different animal. It's sticky and dehydrates you quickly.

Those face mask tan lines on the tourists will be funny.

I said this in another thread, but I was there as well this afternoon/evening, but I wore a neck gaiter from Patagonia and it was much more comfortable than a cloth mask. Perhaps not as an effective fabric, but one you could wear all day in our heat and humidity down here and breathe comfortably.

I'm in GA and we get our share of that too. In fact my college team in Auburn and I often like early season OOC games at home because a lot of times teams from other areas of the country that come in are not prepared for the heat and humidity.

As an interesting example of a team realizing that is Auburn played Oregon at Atlanta in their retractable dome stadium recently and Oregon actually would not agree to the game without a stipulation the dome be closed and not open. Can't say I blame them.

Florida is worse but yeah the heat/humity in the SE can brutal but you can get used to it.

Tried my 2nd mask type today, one that literally is the tight neckchief you pull up (after the disposable surgical mask fail).

My oldest laughed at me, since apparently, my nose is too small to even hold this up if I say a word. She suggested a black ski mask...I laughed, and then I thought that option removes the need for me to have a nose that can support a mask. It causes other problems, but I guess if we're on the mask train, it's the one type that might actually work for me in a "long wear" period...
I have the regular disposable 3-ply paper masks. They are bendy at the top and can be bent to fit exactly over my nose. They have a stretchy loop over the ear. Have you tried that kind?
