Rum Point or 7 mile??? Help me decide

I need help deciding between Rum Point vs. 7 mile beach. We have a 2 yr. and a 5yr old. What are the beaches like? Are there shops or activities other than the beach?

I see that Rum Point offers lunch. Is is good? 7 mile leaves at bad times but if Rum Point stinks we could leave at the early 7:25 or the 12:30 for 7 mile.

HELP!!!!!! I am driving my husband nuts.

I can not comment on Rum Point, but we did Seven Mile Beach this past July and loved it. There is really no reason to take the excursion, this trip is easily done on your own. As soon as you get off the Tender, there are tons of taxis waiting for you. It cost us $4.00 PP each way, it is about a 10 minute taxi ride. We asked the driver to drop us off by the Holiday Inn. This is the exact beach location that the excursion goes to. Very nice beach area and there is no charge for entrance and chairs. We arrived about 10:30 a.m. and asked our driver to return for us at 2:00, he was there waiting as soon as we walked off the beach. There were also many other taxis waiting so there would have been no problem if he didn't return. We easily took food and drinks with us off the ship in our soft sided cooler. Iit was a great easy day for all and we saved a lot of $'s doing it on our own!!

DID u know that 7 mile beach is only 5.5 miles long ,,, just a little trivia , we learned on our StUFFED CAB island tour..

We want to do our own excursion to 7 Mile (or any other beach for that matter), but we also want to be able to walk right in the water to snorkel. Any recommendations for a beach in Grand Cayman where we can not only be beach bums, but also snorkel? If so, are there public restrooms, food, and chair rentals?
