Can anyone who has done this excursion tell me if its worth it?
I know everyone swears by stingray city. Im just wondering if we should do our beaching here or do our own thing and book the stringray excursion seperately.

Also is the beach any nicer at Rum Point vs anywhere else??

thanks in advance!

Where on the Western cruise before yours and we have booked this excursion through DCL. I'll let you know how it was when we get back on April 17th. Stay tuned.

You'll still have time to cancel if it's a bust.

I know alot of people do their own things but I really feel alot safer using DCL excursions, especially the first time in the area. And you don't have to worry about missing the ship as they will wait if a DCl excursion is late.

Good luck

We've booked that too, and would be very interested in knowing what you think, especially if there is any snorkeling there and what other water sports are available.

We did this exact excursion in Jan. of 2003 and we loved it!! The beach is great--lots of trees for shade, hammocks, good food and nice people. It feels very private and relaxing. Snorkeling with the stingrays was fun but on the day we went, the waves were very high. In fact, we tried to book this excursion for our Western cruise leaving 2/28 and it was sold out!!

So you'd do it again? Cool. :) The excursion info says that "a variety of water sports are available for additional cost" -- do you happen to remember what these were?

Grendel-

We must be one the same cruise! April 24th Magic. Please join our Dis Meet!

We're considering the Stingray swim also!

I booked it for everyone even though DW and DD(13) dont want to get near stingrays...( i think they can just stay in the boat ) DD7 likes stingrays so were all set there:)

Maybe someone can comment on the quality of the beach site vs. taking a cab down the street to say the Holiday Inn or some such. The only reservation I have about the rum point excursion is that its 5 hours...and almost 2 of that is eaten up in transportation. So maybe our time would be better spent closer to port and have more time....of course that means giving up the stingrays.

I agree with you about the long transit, but we felt it was worth it. Actually, we were going to skip the stingrays this time because it took a lot of time away from the beach, but if you have not done the stingrays before, it is definitely worth doing. Even if your dd doesn't get in the water it is still fun to watch them from the boat. There are so many stingrays and the water is only about 4-5 feet deep. Really cool. :hyper:

Sorry--I forgot to answer about the water sports. The only thing we remember was jet skis for rent. My dh thinks they were about $50.00 for a half hour but we didn't see anyone renting them. You can also rent snorkeling gear but I wouldn't waste my money because there really wasn't anything to see near the beach.
