Do y'all have any recommendations for brand? Again the store I stopped at today was on the side of a grocery store, not a full blown liquor store. I might try somewhere better this week and curious about what others like. Take whiskey, I prefer JD but if I'm broke I'll buy Evan Williams the black label, it's aged while Evan Williams the green label isn't aged and is nasty. It's cheaper yet but even my cheap brother doesn't buy it.

Bacardi is good. . . Bacardi 151 is better.

I prefer Bacardi, but will also drink Bundaberg on occasion - I'm not sure if that is available outside of Oz though.

zacapa, Pyrat, Flor de Cana (older stuff) make good sipping rums. Mount Gay is good

Malibu makes good coconut rum for cocktails

Gosslings has good dark rum for dark and stormys.

Pussers is a must for Pain Killers

Bacardi white is good for mojitos

Captain Morgan is good for rum and coke (so is Malibu)

Myers is a requirement for floaters.

And I just realized I have a problem because I have all of that in my cabinet except Pyrat (and more... throw in a little Cruzan, too!)

Ok, I picked up small bottle of Captain Morgan's spiced rum today. I usually sit around and drink Jack Daniels bourbon, usually drink diluted with water over ice. So how do some of y'all prefer your rum? I'm not big into sugary drinks so no Rum and Coke.

DH said to try a flavored spring water.

I know you said you don't like sweet drinks, but a pina colada mix, coconut rum, sweet cream or a few drops of vanilla, with pineapple or orange juice would be kind of like a Dole whip with spiced rum.

Even though I'm not much of a rum drinker these days, this is my all-time favorite cocktail: Trader Vic's Menehune Juice. I think it's the lime juice that prevents it from becoming too sweet.
