Ok, so our wedding is May 2nd 2009. Our final count is due April 2nd as well as that is when our room block ends. We are having two showers, one in march and then we are undecided on the second shower, but we would like to have it earlier than our other shower.

DF wants the rsvp to be in early Feburary, but when we do send out the invitations? I was thinking then end of November so that we beat the Christmas card rush and give people more time to make decisions and have more information. DF also wants the shower at his house to be before the rsvp date so that will give people the option of saying that they came to our shower and don't feel obligated to come to the wedding.

We were thinking the end of January for the shower, but I am worried that our rsvp date is too close, but we don't want to extend the rsvp date too much and have to rush around and call 300 people to see if they are coming.

Help!!

Our wedding is this November 10th. Our Save the Dates went out in January from Disney. Our wedding invites went out July 4th week and our RSVP date was August 18th. Today is September 3rd and we still have not heard from about 10 people - 110 invited to the wedding - as of now 53 attending. We are going to start calling this weekend. Some people did not realize the early RSVP date but we really wanted this for both our room block and to figure out how many buses we need to rent (our ceremony is in Epcot and we need to bus people in).

My girls threw me a surprise shower the first week of June - very early for a November wedding but they wanted to do it before the summer (it was an outside Princess Tea Party) and did not want to wait until the fall as they figured it would be too close to the wedding.

By the end of january they will probably know if they are going to fly to Florida in May. I don't think early RSVP's should be a problem. I mean really, it's not like they are going to decide the day before the wedding to come like they could for an in town wedding. Unfortunatly no matter when your RSVP's are due you will deal with people that neglect to return them. It's a fact of weddings. Good luck!!!!

Hey there ladies..

We are getting Married Dec. 06th 2008 and I just sent the invites out today with a RSVP of Oct. 10th -- I want everything known by the 1 month date so we can give Disney accurate money count... Which is Nov. 6th -- I built in some space to make those wonderful calls.

As far as shower goes, mine is Sept. 13th (a tad early I know but I am a teacher and Oct. and Nov. get crazy for me, plus I don't want to kill bridesmaids with expenses, since my Bach. Party is the Sat of Thanksgiving weekend -- which is the weekend before my Wedding and we are right in the middle of the holiday season.) We sent out invites for Shower Mid/Late July with RSVP of 9/1/08 and I am still getting people trickling in saying they will or will not be there and it is next weekend..

HTH -- I am sure what ever you pick is fine... Again for most it is a destination wedding and if you have the save the dates that disney already sent out, most people already know wheather they are coming or not.

DF and I are getting married May 2nd of 2009 at Castaway Cay!!!! I feel like we're part of the same club or something. :lmao:

We're having everyone RSVP by February 14th, 2009 simply because that's when final payments are due for the cruise but it's sort of nice having the RSVP date be Valentine's Day! So maybe you want to do that?

We sent our invitations out today but that's SUPER early - it's just b/c it's a cruise and we wanted to give people TONS of time to decide if they want to come and if they do, arrange financially and logistically how to attend.

Not sure if this will help any, but our wedding is December of this year. The STDs went out the first week of February, my bachelorette party/cruise is in 2 weeks (sept 18th), my first shower is Oct 5th, I'm sending out the invites Oct 10th with an RSVP of December 1st (we can cut it close, we live in FL and everyone we're inviting knows the dates already anyways), and a second shower Nov. 21st. :)

Thanks for the great advice everyone! Everything I was reading was telling me not to send them out until 6 weeks before and I knew that there was no possible way!

PixyDusted- Yay we are date twins!! I think I am going to make our rsvp date Feb 14th, its a date the people can remember and its early enough before our date that we can call people and bug them for a month to make sure they send their rsvps back!

Thanks!!
