Hi all -
I have been waffling between the HRH and RPR for weeks now. I have a reservation at the RPR and I think I have finally decided to keep that - about $30/night cheaper than HRH. But I know my oldest ( I have 2 boys 4 and 7) will want to use the slide at the HRH (which is why I keep waffling). How much of a pain is it to pool hop to HRH from RPR? Easily walkable or do we/can we take the water taxi? (I'm a little confused by the water taxi system).

TIA!

Andrea

Its not that horrible of a walk, but with little kids you may want to take the water taxi.EACH resort has its own taxi that runs from the resort to Citywalk. If you want to take a water taxi the whole way, you would have to take a water taxi from RPR to Citywalk then another boat from Citywalk to HRH

Keep Portofino's slide in mind also - it's a really fun slide! :) Your 7 year old may enjoy the atmosphere there better than at HRH.

OK, after some family discussion we switched to the HRH. After looking at the maps, Royal Pacific is much further than I thought. Looks like we can hop to PBH a little easier (if necessary), but I think the HRH will be a good choice.
We'll miss the splash zone at RPR, but if my kids don't know what their missing, then no worries.

Thinking of starting pre-trip report...hmmm....

Just know that there's no real place to *swim* at HRH. It's more of a wading pool than anything else; a place for adults to sit on the pool bottom with water to their waist, with their adult beverages and listen to loud music (there was a LOUD live band when we hopped there). So the little one might or might not have the best time, if he can't go on the slide.

I would really recommend checking out Portofino for a swim day, maybe even early on in your trip just in case you love it. There's the slide, there's a shallow area with sand on the bottom, and a bit of deeper water to do a little bit of swimming. They also have a quiet pool (we only saw one but I saw mention of Portofino having THREE pools recently so maybe there are two quiet pools?) that's just a rectangle. My son has always appreciated "just a pool" with no gimmicks, for the times he wants to swim.

Since onsite guests are welcome to go to any of the pools, have fun!
