RPR King Suite Occupancy

I just received an email from central reservations stating that I cannot qualify for an upgrade to King Suites at the RPR because they have a max occupancy of 3. I checked both the Loews Hotels site and two Universal sites and cannot find any reference to max occupancy for the King Suite.

On the USF website, it states:
"King Suites
Our 670 square foot King Suite will make you feel like island royalty. You’ll find a living room and separate bedroom featuring a king-size bed. The spacious living area offers ample room for your relaxation and entertainment, along with a pull-out sofa and a desk area. Both rooms feature an entertainment center with television and sitting areas."

This is very frustrating. Do I bring this info with me to back it up? Or am I missing it somewhere?

Yes, youre missing it, there is a little link somewhee on that page that says max occupancy, and it gives the king suite as 3. I'm not sure but I think that is different at HRH and PBH. I know, we have 5 and there is no option but a double queen room at RPR.


On the Universal site if you go to hotels, RPR then accomodations, then on that page under standard rooms there is the link...view maximum occupancy...and it gives them all.

I would ask if the max occupancy for the king suite is 3 due to fire codes.

I'm sorry... but that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! A pull-out sofa can sleep 2 easily! Why in the world would they max the occupancy at 3?

I wonder why it's not consistent across all 3 hotels - they're all owned by the same parent company!?

Has anyone ever had any luck with an upgrade to a King Suite with 4 people (2 Adults, 2 kids) at check-in? I think I'm still going to give it a shot then. We'll see what happens.

Consistent at all 3 hotels in what way? The king suite configuration is only offered at RPR. HRH has a king suite that also has a max occupancy of 3 but that floorplan is different anyway. It would have been nice if RPR offered kids suites like the other 2. I guess they were shooting for the business client more than the family.

One other option for 4 guests at RPR is to ask about a Hospitality Suite. If its available at check in they may let you upgrade with the $35 a night extra charge. They are very limited so chances are slim but worth it to ask!

We stayed at the PBH a couple years ago with my SIL & her family & stayed in a suite (not sure which one) w/ a double queen attached. It was different, in that the 'parlor' had a bathroom also, making it 1 king, 2 queen, pull-out & 3 baths. That was nice!

I guess I could try. We'll see. If not, I'll stay with my regular room. We're bringing along friends that have never stayed on-site, so I wanted to make it kind of special. But, a room is a room. We're hardly ever in it anyway!

That is why we now stay at PBH. We are platinum and RPR has consistently told us our upgrade would only be to a waterview room due to the king suites having a max of 3.

At PBH, we get the automatic upgrade to the Portofino suite - the one you described above.

I mean, really, why would they classify it so differently? It's a pull out sofa - 2 people (especially kids!) can easily sleep in that!

Well, I'm not going to let it ruin our vacation. But, we could stay at the HRH for just $20 more a night. Unfortunately, our friends booked a package and are paid in full, so we'll stay put.

If anything good comes out of this stay, I will be sure to post it afterwards.

I would imagine that for insurance purposes or fire regulations that rule was made. I doubt that the hotel would care.

In the deluxe rooms at HRH, a two queen room with a pullout couch has a max occ. of 5. And I believe the king deluxe with pullout couch has maximum occupancy of 3 as well. I think regulations count the pullout couch as a bed for one person only.
