I just got off the phone with RPR and was told there are no more AP rates for the first weekend in April. Then she told me they have rooms for the same weekend at the standard rate. What's the deal? I have never stayed there before and was looking forward to it but 274.00 is just too much. Anyone else going that weekend. If so whats your rate?

I don't know specifically about those dates, but for my dates (July 1-5) the AAA rate was $1 less than the APH rate. So try for a AAA rate, if available.

I just cancelled my res. for RPH for april 3-7. I was quoted $234 a night and that was with the fla/ga discount. With tax it came to $260 a night. I am used to paying HRH $149 and PBH $169. we usually go off sesason but this year we decided to go during spring break. The reason for my cancellation is because i could not drop a night they said sorry that if you want the Ga rate you have to stay atleast 3 nights> I have never had to before. So, I said canel me. I dont know if I will ever stay there again. :sad2:

I think the deal is, they are receiving enough business to be able to limit the discounted rates. It is all supply and demand. I do know that I've spent $475/night for the Grand Floridian and received no perks whatsoever. Comparatively, $275, with FOTL, is pretty good.

The Polynesian is going to run you about $465 with tax for that same time period. RPR is a nicer resort.

I think we have been spoiled with their low rates in the past.

We are staying at RPH March 23-28. Our rate was $274 a night. I was told it is peak week and that there were no discounts...not even AAA. After spending quite a bit more to stay at the Polynesian a few years ago I'm OK with the price. RPH was the cheapest of the three onsite hotels for that time frame. I am hoping that FOTL will make up for the expense. 7 days to go!!!

DH and I are at RPH 4/2-4/6 for a conference. Maybe that has something to do with room availability.

Actually...when you consider the first week of April is one of the 3 or 4 busiest hotel weeks of the year in Central FL, AND that it is less than 2 weeks away....I think you'd be doing good to get a room at any price. I wouldn't expect a discount of any kind for such a busy week, much less at the last minute....good luck finding a discount anywhere at this late date for such a busy week!!

Of coarse rates have gone up.
Conventions are booking all the rooms at the hotels, so they can raise rates. In the past, the conventions booked rooms on I-Drive. But now they found the secret to impress their clients, FOTL.
AAA still seems to be the best rate going. My AAA rate is $210 July 6-8 (two nights) at RPR. I'll be shocked if we still get it. Last year, my HRH ressie mysteriously disappeared but I got it back after a few letters telling them I had contacted the local newspaper. So I'll really be surprised if my rate is still there come July.
