RPH rates, fan club card?

I decided to spend one night onsite at the RPH for this trip (11/21). I called with my fan club card and AAA card in hand. They could only give me a rate of $159. I told them that the rate was only $129 on Expedia. So he said well they have different cancellation rules etc, yada yada yada. So... I went to Expedia and made my reservation. I thought that one of my cards could give me a rate equal to that offered online. Is the fan club card really useful?

Different things will give you different deals. Sometimes Expedia will have a better deal than AAA. It really depends. Discounted rates for hotels are like discounts on airline tickets -- there's no rhyme or reason when or why they occur.
