Seems like we might as well have a spot to talk about the wedding of William and Kate as it happens today, yeah?

Comment, discuss, criticize, gush, squee.... do it all here. :yay:

why can't we get away with wearing big ol' fancy hats here in america? they always look so neat...

People wear them to the Kentucky derby. I think it would be so fun to have them at weddings - or even a bridal shower!

Ooh me too! They're now speculating that it could be an Alexander McQueen dress. I'm thinking it will have long lace sleeves, a cinched waist, and a trumpet skirt. No matter what, she's going to look great!

i'm going back and forth between BBC America and TLC.

Am i the only one who thinks that the inside of the Westminster Abbey looks too detailed and busy? i remember thinking the same thing during Princess Diana's funeral when I was in middle school. it almost hurts my eyes...

oh god i hope it's not too much frou frou and filly....

sleek, clean lines... ballgown (you gotta fill that giant abbey somehow)... and all the detailing will probably be beading and embroidery... not frills and layers.

omg and what about the crown? hmmm... will she be wearing a hand-me-down from the queen or will there be a new one designed for her?

from what i can see, the lace top looks absolutely gorgeous! though i saw that there is a long train and i have to say i'm slightly disappointed about that.

LOL i originally wanted a dress that looked quite similar to that one... but lace is so expensive.

omg the ring exchange is so close to what i have planned for mine. i got it from the 1982 movie version of The Scarlet Pimpernel.... neat. is it a catholic thing?

Just popping in!! I really wish Kate could have worn something sleeker--- I love her sister's dress!

Isn't it gorgeous? Pippa looked fabulous!

I like Kate's dress, but I have three personal nit-picky things: 1-Wish the collar was a bit higher, 2-Not crazy about the detailing at her chest .. the embellishment there wasn't exactly flattering IMHO, and 3-The veil was so plain for the most part. I didn't notice any embellishment at all until they sat down.

Other than that, I think it really suited her and her style! And I love that she did her own makeup! :thumbsup2

i love the fact that she had a smaller bouquet... it fit very well with the look she was going for.

Kate's dress is lovely; sort of reminds me of the one Julie Andrews wore in the Sound of Music. I do love her sister's dress too.

Westminster Abbey looks "busy" but it is beautiful. Can you imagine getting married in a place like that?

I love all the hats too! That's one of the reasons I joined the Red Hat Society (even though, as of yesterday, I've got 4 years to go before I turn 50). I love the hats some of the women in the club wear - some are so elaborate!

Well they got that right!

Yeah, I want Pippa's dress! It's amazing!

Kate's dress is actually pretty similar to my mum's dress from 30 years ago... I'm going to have to dig up a photo to compare now!

My DH is so clever! Without any form of prompting from me, he just out and said "Well you looked so much prettier on our wedding day!" :lovestruc How did he know I wanted him to say that?!?!
