We are staying in a Royal Room in August, it will be our first ever stay at Port Orleans Riverside. Can anyone suggest a building or room number? We'd obviously like to be as close to amenities/bus stops as possible. I have really no knowledge of this resort at all. We usually stay at Caribbean Beach but had some bad experiences with wait times for buses last year. The room category booked is RR with pool view. Thanks in advance!

Click on the Resort Thread Link to see a map of the property. I also joined another site for "touring plans" to see views from different room numbers. I hope this helps you narrow down where you want to be!:o

The Royal Rooms are only in two buildings...Oak and Partierre, if I remember correctly. I stayed at Partierre in a river view room. It was a fairly quick walk to the main bldg and the main bus stop.
If you have a standard view room, it will be on the other side of the bldgs, making it a bit further from the main areas.

A few weeks ago we were in the Oak Manor building Royal room 9242. It was very close to the foot bridge that lead to the main lobby, food court, buses, and boat transportation. Try to get the river view, very short walk to the places you want to go to.

We've stayed in Oak manor before, and it's not a bad walk as far as disney walks go. And yes, only two buildings for royal rooms and they're beside each other.

I have requested and stayed in Oak Manor each time I've stayed in a royal room. This past November, my room was great. I actually requested the specific room through touring plans, and made requests with online check-in for a 2nd floor, corner room. And my TA noted Oak Manor as a request on my reservation. I requested room 9278, and got that room. It was steps away from the foot bridge and only a couple minutes to walk to the main building and South Depot bus stop.

In 2014, we had 9249 in Oak Manor. Our room faced the fountain where they show the evening movie each night. It was a tad further than my room in 2015, but loved it! I like to be on the river side of the building, and not the parking lot side. If you are booked in a standard room, those are all on the parking lot side.

If you look at the POR main thread, at the map on the first page, you can see where the Royal Rooms that face the pool are. We had a Royal poolview room booked until we switched to WL, and I specifically chose pool view because they all looked pretty close to the bridge to the main building. We would have requested ground floor, too, to save more steps. You can request close to bus stop, but I just thought they all looked like a pretty good location, so you should be good!

This is all great info!! Thank you so much!
Oh and I just realized you said in you were booked in a pool view room! Room 9278, that I stay in in November was a pool view room. Loved it and it was the perfect location. It overlooked the quiet pool, but it was still so quiet.

The 2 times we stayed in the RR our request were 1) 'Close to foot bridge' 2) Building (we like Oak Manor) 3) Floor
We also followed it up with a fax 6 days prior to check-in, and had great results. There is also a PO fax thread if interested.

Another vote for requesting close to the foot bridge. Pool view rooms are all great! We like oak manor or parterre place for pool view rooms!

Enjoy! You will love POR

Our GV room in Oak Manor faced the fountain too! Loved the location. Close to foot bridge, quiet pool, elevator and bus stop. It was also a corner room.

We stayed in Oak Manor last year and loved the location. Payed extra for river view which was completely blocked by the trees, but we didn't really care because the grounds and room were great. IMO I would not pay for a that view bc there is no balcony and unless you are sitting at table with drapes open, the view isn't that important. We love POR. We are trying something new in 2 weeks by staying at OKW and I hope I don't regret it. Have a great time on your vacation!

I joined touring plans as well....hoping that will help me get a great room choice. I've gone on and looked at the views from different areas using their room finding tool. Thanks for all the great advice.
