We stayed at the Royal Pacific for 4 nights, July 7-11, and had a great time! :) This was our first time staying at the resort, previously the only Universal resort we had tried was Portofino. We arrived on Tuesday July 7th in the mid-afternoon, probably around 3:00 PM and check-in was a breeze. I did not make any requests and was pleasantly surprised to see we were given a great room. Tower 1, 7th floor, room #1729, overlooking IOA. The kids loved being able to watch Hulk, Dr. Doom, Dueling Dragons, etc, right from their bed. We could also see parts of Universal, including the new coaster. It was a great view!! :thumbsup2

Over the 4 days we were there we enjoyed the parks very much, I think we rode everything at least once, and many rides multiple times. With the express pass we never waited longer than 5 minutes and usually everything was a walk-on. I wish WDW offered something similar, but I'm sure it would have to cost a fortune if they did. :cool2:

I think my most favorite ride would definitely have to be The Mummy. :lovestruc The kids loved MIB, Simpsons, Spiderman, Popeye's, Jimmy Neutron, and the kid areas in Suessland and Universal's with Woody and Curious George.

We ate at many of the restaurants......

Mythos, which was good but maybe not quite as amazing as I was expecting it to be after reading so many reports. We started with a pizza special to share, it had sausage and spinach, some other toppings I can't remember, then I had the pork and DH had the risotto. It was good, and the atmosphere was beautiful. The price was very low, which was nice. I think it was our cheapest dinner.

Trattoria del Porto, which I didn't care for even though the create-your-own pasta thing is a neat idea. All you can eat for $18. But the restaurant itself isn't anything to write home about. The kids did get to meet and greet with Woody Woodpecker and Scooby Doo though.

One morning we had The Island dining room for the breakfast buffet which was good, I especially enjoyed the pancakes, DH liked the omlette station. They had lots of options and a friendly staff. No characters were there.

We did Finnegan's irish pub for lunch one day, which was good. I had fish and chips, DH had some potato thing. The atmosphere was cool, they had live music and it was crowded and fun.

Dinner at Bubba Gumps, it was good, we'd eaten at one in Chicago and I'd say it was the same. DH had a big bucket of crab, lobster, and stuff, I had the coconut shrimp. I think their prices are too high for what you get, but the atmosphere is cute.

And I saved the best for last... by far our best meal on every level, was The Kitchen at the Hard Rock. WOW! The restaurant is beautiful, our server was the best I've probably ever had in my life, and the food was awesome. DH had a seafood dish, I can't remember what it was called, it had steamers and stuff piled on top... I had the meatloaf which was amazing. The kids enjoyed lots of time with Scooby Doo, he came by like 4 times, which was cool. We ended up staying for drinks and relaxing a long time because the kids left the table and went to the kid zone to watch TV. Why doesn't Disney build some of these kid zone areas???

We went to the pool several times. We found it to be very nice, the kids enjoyed the splash zone area with the water blasters. The service around the pool was nice, we had drinks several times and the service was quick, cool towels were brought around periodically which was nice, and we ordered lunch one day, Bula Bar and Grill, which was very good.

I think that about covers the basics.

Does anyone have any questions? :)

Thanks for the report, I'd love to see more pics! We get to RPR in 2 weeks, 6 days (not that I'm counting) for 5 nights! Yippee! Universal 360 looks like it was neat - and thanks for The Kitchen tip, we will have to plan for that one. I also heard Jake's at RPR was good.

Where did you find the penguins from madagascar? Do you know if they are regular characters in the parks?

Hey...was your husband the 'hunky man' in Disaster?

LOL :lmao: He was actually not the hunky man but one of the three guys in lab coats. I think they were supposed to be villains or something, I never really figured out the plot. ;)

Yes, more pictures please :)

Where did you find the penguins from madagascar? Do you know if they are regular characters in the parks?

They were on a float coming down the street from the kids zone area towards Mel's. I think they originated from the kid area somewhere, we just happened to see them as they left. I'm pretty sure it was on the park map... like when and where, etc. :)

How could we possibly be bored with more of your fantastic pictures!!! More please!!!!!

Where did you see the characters from Madagasgar?!! Was that US or IOA? What were the crowds like?
Debx:upsidedow

glad you enjoyed your UO trip.

did you do the character spiderman breakfast at the Port of Entry?

If your sons enjoy spiderman and cat in the hat characters, it is a winner!
