We are flying into MCO on Fri. Dec. 19 landing at 1 pm and we are planning on going to the Universal parks that day and Sat. Dec.20 and Sun. Dec. 21 before we move to SSR resort at WDW.

Right now I have a room booked for us at the Fairfield Inn on International Dr. ($104.00 + tax per night) for that Fri. and Sat. night but I keep debating if it is worth it to just pay the extra $$$ and stay at the Royal Pacific (can get AAA rate of $237 + tax per night) and have the FOTL access. We already have the 7 day/ 2 park tickets so that is taken care of.

With this being the weekend right before Christmas will the Universal parks be very crowded making the FOTL access more important? I have checked out the Express passes you can buy but that only gets you on each ride once right, so if we were thinking of paying the extra money for those it isn't that much more to just stay at RPR :confused3

We would be getting there before the 4pm check-in time, would they give us our room keys so we can go to the parks even if our room isn't ready so that we can have FOTL right away? Does FOTL with your room key work until the parks close on the day you check-out or only until check-out time? I am driving myself crazy debating what to do :headache:

We check-in around 9:00 am - 10:00 am on all of our trips, if your room
is not ready they will store your luggage, give you your room keys, which
acts as your fotl pass. leave them your cell # and they will call when your room is ready or you can call them at the # they provide.

The fotl privileges start the day you check-in and continue thru the day you check-out.

That aaa rate might go down some, APH rate for the same time is $144.00
at RPR. keep checking.

As for crowds it is on a weekend, we went the weekdays the week before
Christmas and fotl was a blessing.

Just got back this week and it was not even the busy season and the FOTL was amazing. The RPR is also a great hotel. We were able to check in early also. Spend the extra $$$ and get the FOTL.

Tip - watch your kids if they are playing in the sand at the RPR pool. My kids were happly digging and playing and they got eatten alive by bugs.

Onsite hotels are great. Not only for FOTL but just to be able to walk to the parks. It's sooooo nice. Our kids love the pools too and you can request a view of the parks. Great to look out your window and watch them warming up the Hulk.

Once you try it, you'll be hooked.:lovestruc

I decided we'll splurge and stay at RPR :woohoo:   The convenience of being on grounds and FOTL will be worth the extra money. I have some extra days at work that I am scheduled for in the next month so that can pay for the cost difference.

You won't regret it. :cloud9: Just talking about it makes me want to be there! We'll be heading down Fri night for an extra long Labor Day weekend! :cool1:
