I know I am a new person but I have read every single post on this thread. I am astonished by the amount of time and effort that Maddi puts into keeping people happy on this thread. I get exhausted just reading about it. I am a firm believer in "if you don't have anything nice to say..." So Maddi, I think you are one incredibly devoted woman and every person in this swap should be thankful for the efforts that you and other swap members have made. If people aren't happy, I challenge them to think about how many posts they have read by Maddi dealing with problems, think about how many PMs they have personally received trying to deal with their problem, and then think about doing all of that at a cost to herself. If you still have a beef after doing that, then feel free to complain that you MIGHT be out 20 dollars. Give me a break - if I get a stroller in August, great. If it doesn't work out, I have had the pleasure of seeing that selflessness does still exist somewhere out there.

I finally found the post that should answer your question. It is post #2675 and was posted May 11th,2009

Unfortunately, I paid money to be in this swap. I was sick, and dealing with a lot of grief within my family due to a family event.

If I am removed, my money should be refunded. These threads have 200 pages. I cant keep up.

This is getting crazy...you are right katiesmommy.

But incase anyone is wondering, I have dates available for octoberbabies but waiting once again for her to read her PM to know if it will work for her. It's been unread for a couple days but I was right on it the day it happened.

I've also added those who removed from the swap who PM'd me. But I have had 4 who never read any of the PM's-never came back to Disboards and read PM's from 4/23 who should have already had the stroller. If I wouldn't have went pro-active in protecting the strollers--then what? Lost/misplaced strollers?? 30 ppl with a stroller in that swap?? I have to do what I have to do to get to the end of the year. If it means removing ppl after a month of not reading a PM-And I do also email them at the end of the 10 days plus PM them two more times before they are removed, then that is what I have to do.

I won't even go into the money issue except to say..There is none. It's all went into keeping these strollers up and running. I mailed the last 4 items out of my pocket and will continue to do so if I have to order parts out of my pocket to keep these strollers up and running. I don't want to but I am a person of my word...I don't want to let anyone down, that is a priority for me.

I'm sorry things have happened they way they have, I guess I should have just shut down the swap and walked away just as so many of the other swaps did. But I didn't--though it could have easliy been done--I "CHOSE" to fight for every person in the swap. Trust me, this isn't an easy thing to manage--I spend hours trying to figure ways to get us to the end.

Now, my son is home from the Air Force and I have 8 days left with him and would like to spend that time with him without worrying about fighting and sniping on the thread.

Just because I am not posting on the thread doesn't mean I'm not trying to work things out with ppl in the background. I still average 6-10 PMs a day with issues, changed dates, getting removed swappers back in, new swappers in, etc.

And I'm sure when octoberbabies gets around to coming to Disboards and reads her PM, we can get things worked out. Just waiting on her to read her PM and things should be taken care of. I'm not out to screw anyone, just trying to protect the strollers for everyone.

Part of being in the swap is keeping up with the thread so that you are aware of what is going on. I am sorry that you were sick and I hope that you are feeling better:goodvibes
Please PM Parkers*Momma and read your PM's. As she stated above she is really trying hard to work with you.

I'm sorry to hear about your family situation.
But in all fairness to Maddi as well as everyone else - I do not think it's fair to expect Maddi to have to refund your money out of her pocket. She's (unfortunately) had to pour her own personal money into this - and we all knew the risks involved in swaps when we signed up for them. Nobody is trying to screw anyone over - but nobody also had anticipated that these new restrictions would happen and therefore the swap can't continue on anticipated or planned. Several messages had been sent out to try to get people to confirm if they still needed/wanted the stroller or not so nothing was without any warning or done haphazardly.
I happen to be the LAST person on one of the swaps and I, of course, have my doubts that there will even be a stroller left to use come December. But I am hoping/praying for the best. And if the stroller/s break down and are unusable by then - well I'm not going ot ask for a refund. It is what it is and Maddi/Nelap etc are doing all they possibly can to salvage the rest of the year on the swap for those who are in.
With all that said, if you just will please read the message she sent you it sounds like she has something available for your time at Disney. So it shoudl work out ok for you. :thumbsup2 I hope it all works out - sounds like it should! :woohoo:

octoberbabies

As I said in my inital PM, I have the dates of 4-8 and seeing if the swapper before you is willing to let you have the stroller on the 3rd. Your dates are 2-8 and I am trying very hard to work with you on this. I'm truly sorry that, for some reason, none of the 3 PMs or the email I sent you asking you to come to the boards reached you. All three remained unread and the email was sent to you at the email addy you provided when you signed up. Glitches in the system, I haven't a clue.

Please let your DH know there isn't any reason to go ballistic over $10--I'm trying my best to get you set up before your trip. Maybe not the full 6 days but hopefully 5 days...even if it is 4 days that is still a huge savings verses renting one or the hassles of bringing one from home.

Bear with me and we can get this worked out hopefully to a happy medium for everyone involved.

PLEASE EVERYONE IN THE SWAP

remember...I'm trying to make sure everyone gets to use the strollers up until the end of the year but I can't make any promises. I can only keep moving forward and doing what I can to keep this going.

No guarentees but I do promise to do my best to have a stroller available. If you have to pospone your trip(as in Katiesmommy case) and you rebook later/earlier--if there is availablity in a swap or the swaps are still going just let me know and I will put you right in a swap.

I'm trying, ok?

Let's all try our best to be flexible and work with the hand the RC swap has been dealt! Parkers*Momma DID NOT impose the new swap rules, the DIS did. I am continually amazed that she still remains dedicated to the RC swap given the impossibilities of running it for free! She is doing to the best she can out of the goodness of her heart.

When we signed up, each of us agreed to share the benefits of the swap, just like we all should now be sharing risks. Please don't ask Parkers*Momma to pay for anything else out her own pocket!

I've said it before, the RC swap is wonderful COMMUNITY of people with a fabulous organizer! I am so amazed at all of the kind people I have come to know since joining this swap! You all ROCK! Someone said it earlier, it is so refreshing that a group of complete strangers can work together to make something positive happen!

Disneynuts777 thanks for keeping on top of things!

Parkers*Momma - hugs to your son! And my personal thanks to him for his service!

Cheers and have a great weekend!!!!

Also, I have tried to get in touch with the swapper after me (Artist). I still have not got a response. Any suggestions?

I'm here! I have not received any PM from you? PM me and we can make arrangements.:) Thanks!

Oh, I'm still in, by the way- for both swaps #2 and #4. Thanks!

We used RC#1 at the first of April. Before all the changes to the swaps.:sad2:
I still read the thread occassionaly and am really shocked at the tone the thread is taking.:scared1:

Many of us are watching the threads a lot over a brief period of time, Maddi, Nelep, Disneynuts777, put in many hours over a very long time, to make this work for everyone.....we all have lives outside the Dis (although I sometimes need to be reminded of this!!:rotfl:)......there is a risk taken to join any swap.....put things into perspective, how much is being spent on these Disney Vacations.....really, in some places, including North America, parents are choosing which child gets to eat that day......!!!!

The use of RC#1 was great for our trip, but up until recieving it from luggage services I was still prepared to rent if need be.

kuddo's to Maddi, what a headache this has become.

Good Morning everyone!!!:goodvibes
It is going to be a beautiful day here(I am off to work:rotfl:)
Hope that everyone has a great day;)

It's looking beautiful here today as well! After a week of rain, I'm sooo happy to see the SUN!!!! :cool1: Sadly, my baby (well, she will be 2 in a few weeks!) is sick. She's been running a temp and last night at 1am it was almost 103!!! :scared1: We had to put her in a cold bath so between that and the Tylenol she was back down to 100 or so in a short amount of time. Poor munchkin. I hate seeing them sooooo sick! So no enjoying the sunshine for me today. :rolleyes1

Hey what do you do with strollers while in restaurants? Is there a "corale" area for restaurants just like at the rides??

I know that some of the restaurants, like Akerhaus have a stroller parking area, not so sure about all of them. I dont think I have ever seen, and please correct me someone if i am wrong, a larger area like in fatasy land to park the stroller for the restaurants. If we are in a park we pull up by the restaurant and use their small area of stroller parking or find a coral close.

So sorry to hear about your little girl not feeling good, my 3 are high fever kids, have you tried tylenol and then motrin 4 hours later, alternating the two? seems to keep the fever at a manageable level and the kids feeling comfortable.

Have a good day everyone :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Same here... I have been lurking here too and can't believe the tone lately. ITA and if it was me running this swap I would probably say the heck with it... but kudos to Pmama, Nelep and Disnut777. RC1 made our vacation so great that I will always cherish the memories. And I met some fantastic people on here too.

I would like to remind SOME of you that part of joining a swap is keeping up with the thread so that you are aware of what is going on. For those of you who didn't do that, you need to accept what we all agreed to. When the DIS changed the rules, WE ALL came together as an RC community and agreed how to go forward.

WE agreed to continue the swap with members donating any parts needed to keep the swap going until the end.
WE agreed that existing members must respond to PMs/emails to ensure the community that they were dedicated to the RC swap and not just in it for an inexpensive stroller
WE agreed to require any new swappers to have a certain number of posts and tenure to be able to join.

Since the changes, WE have all been working together very nicely - and the RC swap has continued (miracuously!!!!). Parkers*Momma has been so kind in continuing to help us organize this.

It is unfortunate that the swap has not been able to continue as it was originally set up, but I think that was a risk WE were all willing to take when we signed up.

I'm sorry if I sound a bit irritated. Please understand that it is the minority that has spurred me to write this post. The rest of you, well, you know how I feel about you - YOU ALL ROCK!!!!

Hi Maddi,

Went away for a while, but we're still in for RC2 - Oct 30 - 11/6. I just had to read the last 10 pages to get caught up on everything - and you have my full support.

I just wish there was something I could do to help out now - but I will bide my time because I'm sure something will be needed by the time Oct rolls around. There's a huge gap after me, so you'll have to let me know what to do with the stroller. We will be leaving on the 7th (Sat.), so you might as well extend my date to the 7th. If someone comes in that needs it that day, then I will just swap with them on the 6th if they are around.

To all the faithful....Keep on keepin' on... We'll get there with a wing and a prayer. And keep the pictures coming. I know they help everyone to see what the true status of the stroller is.

oh, and to the PP who sewed the seat..:worship: :worship: :worship:
