I was going to say the same thing - I'm not giong till December but if RC 2 happens to need a sun shade or Mommy hook by then - I'll be happy to donate it! :santa:

QUESTION - does anyone have a pix of the basket down below (IS there one?)?? I'm thinking of taking in a small cooler (just enough to hold some waters/juice & milk boxes) plus, since we'll be there in December, we'll need to shove our jackets, etc down there. Just wondering how much "space" i have. OTHERWISE, would a smallish cooker hang on the mommy hook ok? (Although I'd feel better with the cooler down below - not that anyone would want to steal our drinks but you never know!)

Yes there is a large understorage basket. The first picture in post one shows it but not very well. But I had not only jackets in ours but a soft sided cooler that held 6 1-liter bottles of water and a small backpack. There was room left for the souvies we bought.

Ok, everyone is going to think I am insane but I'm starting a very short term single swap.

It looks as though my family's plans have totally fallen through because of the economy. So it is going to be just Parker and I going to WDW. She still will need a stroller but probably not a double. Let's see if I can get the short term swap started. HAHAHA a short swap...had to find a name....so since it is a royal carriage single and short termed.....A Tinkerbell Size Royal Carriage Swap-single stroller.

Can I get a few bumps on this swap too? Pretty please? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2109547

Hahaha, You are one very brave woman! I'll add it to my siggy!

OK...I have to share this with my friends here on the RC swap.

As you know, we have 5 children but we also have what I call my adopted children. You know the ones...those best friends of your children who have forgotten where their own home is.

Through the years (DD is 29) we have sooo many kids who called us Mom and Dad, most if not all of them still come home for the major holidays. They raid the fridge like ours, they leave their dirty towels on the bathroom floor like our own children and at times, gave us gray hair like our own children.

We have always had an open door policy with the kids...no matter what time of the day or night. We taken them to the hospital when their parents aren't around, chewed on them when they did something really dumb, and had a couple of them stay with us off and on for a couple weeks, when things needed to cool down at home.

My middle DS has four such boys...they have been best of friends since they were 10-12 years old. One young man in particular is such a sweetie-he lived off and on with use from the time he was 15. His parents were divorcing and things was in such a turmoil all the time that he started lashing out and his parent would call us to come and get him. We didn't mind. In January of this year, he joined the Air Force. The weekend before he left, he spent the entire time with us and I cried so hard the day he left. It was like one of my own leaving me.

Today in the mail, I get my first letter from him. Guess what was in it! He sent me--as he put it---an early mothers day gift and one of the sweetest letter I have ever read thanking me for being his adopted me. In the letter was something that shocked the life out of me.............................

.................. Two Military companion passes for WDW!!!! Two 5 day with water park option. I'm not sure how they work...but OMG I cried even more when I seen them. Such a good boy...man...nawww he will always be one of my boys!

I'm still get teary eyed from missing his "HEY MOM what to eat". I have a feeling when he graduates...I'm going to be flying to TX for that weekend. I wouldn't miss it for the world!

That is so sweet Maddi! It's very obvious to all of us here on the Dis that you are a great mom! You wouldn't have such an extended family if you weren't.

I thought I would check before going to bed to make sure your TWO threads are at the top of the board.
Maddi, I'm reading your last note/story about your extended family. And yes, I'm wiping tears away.
Great story to end the day on. Thanks:flower3:

Aww Maddi, that's such a sweet story! My guys are little now but I have always dreamed of being the mom that you are and having that kind of lifestyle. :goodvibes I'm not so convinced I'll be a good enough mom to pull that off, but I'll always try.

I sent you a pm about the two raincovers I'll be leaving with the strollers but I forgot to mention the stroller hooks as well, I won't forget those. They aren't heavy duty but with care they should last a few months at least I would think.

Awwww Maddi that is the best story I've heard in a long time. That boy is so lucky to have you and he must have realized it by paying it forward. The world needs more people like you!

Maddi that's an awesome story. I'm sitting here crying and I should be getting ready for work.:rolleyes1

Three of my oldest DD's friends call me mom. They are all seniors and I got misty eyed yesterday as they sat in my kitchen talking about their college plans! :scared1: I'm going to miss my "girls". :sad1:

I completely know how you felt listening to "your" girls. Isnt it amazing how attached we can become to someone else's children?

We have been blessed with so many neat children in our lives. My oldest DD's BFF even called us on her way to the hospital to have her first born! Funniest thing of that night...I was 8 months pregnant, waddling my way up to maturnity to await the birth of the baby and the nurses thought I was there to deliver. When I told them no, I was there for one of my girls who was having hers...you could almost read their minds.:rotfl:

Hi! I wanted to be added to the back up list-for a cancellation.
My dates are May 2nd-10th.
Thanks!

Mward73 - at the risk of sounding stalkerish - I think you live by me! Haymarket VA? I live in Bristow - which is like 10 minutes away from Haymarket!

Small World!

This will be #10! Thanks to all for being patient while I talked about the weather lol.

Anyone want to tell me how bad it is to go to the world for July 4th? That will be our last day there (actually checking out of POR on the 4th and will stay offsite for the night before heading home on the 5). I know the heat is an issue but DH is from Orlando so he is prepared. I need to know what we can expect the crowds to be like. Unbearable?

boy...I don't have a clue personally..We have always went in Sept. But from what I heard...it is hot and humid.

But if you are staying on-site...a nice dip in the pool mid-day will refresh you. My-Oh-My how I hate winter! I'm so ready for any weather that is remotely requiring a dip in the pool!

We went that week last year, and it really wasn't *that* bad. Not enought to scare us away! We did say that we would travel to WDW that week again, if we had to coincide with dh's work again. ;)
