Hey seems as if some of you are my neighbors! I live in Reston, VA and my DH used to live in Bristow before we got married! (However never heard of Pickle Bobs...now you have me intrigued!!!) :cool1:

Nelap - thanks for the info on the stroller and how to use it on the transportation~great info!

I never thought about the stores before. I totally planned to stroll it into shops (especially DTD) but now I'm wondering if that's going to be a problem. DUH - it's so wide so maybe it IS a problem. Think it's worth taking along my VERY portable umbrella stroller just for the shopping??

I think most of the shops in DTD will accomodate the stroller. It is VERY maneuverable - turns on a dime. It was easy to navigate it through the aisles, which tend to be very wide anyway. However, if you are going during a peak crowd time, it may be difficult with all of the people. We were there during medium crowds and had no problem at all.

Did I mention how happy I was that I did the RC stroller swap?!!! As I walked through the parks with my DD2 and DD4 riding comfortably in the RC, I couldn't help but notice all those poor (literally!) people pushing those really expensive, small and uncomfortable looking Disney double rental strollers! At $27-$31 a day - yikes!!!

Later in the trip I began to notice that a lot of people had the same red and black umbrella stroller. Coincidence? No! Those were the folks that decided to BUY a stroller from the Disney gift shop. Those cheap little Disney umbrella strollers are $50 !!!! :lmao:

So, did I mention how happy  I was that I did the RC stroller swap?

Flowers for you Parkers*Momma :flower3:

Hi
I am going from Dec 8 - 19 and staying at the All Star Movies. We are hiring a car so we can pick up / drop off at any disney hotel. Do you have any free strollers for these dates?
Thanks

princessmorgan - I figured everyone knew about Juniper St, so that was a safe mention! I hated visiting him evenings in Dec - I could never get out of there, but the houses are so pretty!

I work at L-3 Communications. tell him to look at the website - there are plenty of openings. It's a govt contractor. I wish I worked closer to home - it takes me almost an hour to get to Reston from Haymarket in traffic. Ugh! Luckily, I convinced DH that I should only work 3 days/week with a 2 1/2 yr old and another due in June, so it's not too bad now :yay:

OK...I have to share this with my friends here on the RC swap.

As you know, we have 5 children but we also have what I call my adopted children. You know the ones...those best friends of your children who have forgotten where their own home is.

Through the years (DD is 29) we have sooo many kids who called us Mom and Dad, most if not all of them still come home for the major holidays. They raid the fridge like ours, they leave their dirty towels on the bathroom floor like our own children and at times, gave us gray hair like our own children.

We have always had an open door policy with the kids...no matter what time of the day or night. We taken them to the hospital when their parents aren't around, chewed on them when they did something really dumb, and had a couple of them stay with us off and on for a couple weeks, when things needed to cool down at home.

My middle DS has four such boys...they have been best of friends since they were 10-12 years old. One young man in particular is such a sweetie-he lived off and on with use from the time he was 15. His parents were divorcing and things was in such a turmoil all the time that he started lashing out and his parent would call us to come and get him. We didn't mind. In January of this year, he joined the Air Force. The weekend before he left, he spent the entire time with us and I cried so hard the day he left. It was like one of my own leaving me.

Today in the mail, I get my first letter from him. Guess what was in it! He sent me--as he put it---an early mothers day gift and one of the sweetest letter I have ever read thanking me for being his adopted me. In the letter was something that shocked the life out of me.............................

.................. Two Military companion passes for WDW!!!! Two 5 day with water park option. I'm not sure how they work...but OMG I cried even more when I seen them. Such a good boy...man...nawww he will always be one of my boys!

I'm still get teary eyed from missing his "HEY MOM what to eat". I have a feeling when he graduates...I'm going to be flying to TX for that weekend. I wouldn't miss it for the world!

Thanks for sharing. That is truly wonderful and it show that it does take a village to raise a child

Happy Friday night my RC Friends! I'm working on double bumping stroller swaps...Thanks Parkers*Momma!

We brought the stroller in several shops with no problem. Only a few shops were too tight, so we left it outside.... no, scratch that, I left it outside with my DH and the kids :lmao:

I would say that the crowds were medium when we went so there were also less people in the shops which made it easier to bring the stroller in. So if you are going at a very crowded time, you might have to leave it outside... with your DH and kids, of course!!!

Ha, why didn't I think of that??? We go the same time every year and it is usually medium to light crowds so here's hoping! Thanks for the info!

Today is suppose to be in the 60s :cool1: I am so airing out my sick house. I told all the kids to dress warm because I am opening every window.

Thanks for the info! I passed it along to DH. He also works for a Government Contractor and said he's heard of your company. Wow-Haymarket to Reston is a long commute. Just living in South Riding I felt I was in the boonies. Congrats on your baby!

This is my favorite time of year for just that reason. I love opening my windows and feeling that cool air all through the house. Even if it means wearing sweatshirts and blankets!

I hope the kids are feeling better soon. I know you don't have much longer before your trip!

princessmorgan - if he sees a job he likes, let me know and I'll put in a good word for him. I used to sit right next to the HR recruiters, so I'm friends with a few of them. :)
