17-18 hours from Detroit. Ohio (sorry if I offend anyone) is the worst. So long and boring. Tennessee can get pretty foggy.
A good half way point is Atlanta. An interesting stop would be Gatlinburg. Just my opinions, we haven't stopped overnight in a long time. Dh and my schedules work out for the drive.

Wow, if you have any other interesting tips I would love to hear them! I am sorry if I am taking over the conversation. I am just nervous about the trip and am trying to suck all of the advice I can out of everyone!

If you can....get in a photopass share. Well worth it IMO. We stopped at every Photographer we seen and had them take our pic. By the time we finished enhancing them we had over 500 pics....and got a copy for $20 vs the 125.00 if I hadn't join a photopass share.

and since there's so many of you...ask the photographer to take a group shot and them one of just the kids and them maybe one of you and DH. They'll be glad to do it and it gives you alot more options. They'll even take pics with your camera.

Sorry about the Ohio thing, but I really do dread driving through.
If you don't know already fuelcostcalculator.com is great for planning your gas budget. It was right on! The best tip of all is read through this board! you will find out so much, I'm still finding out new things.

Thanks!! We tried out the private photopass sessions at the Poly and GF this past Sept.. What fun! Now I've decided that for our annual trips, DD and I are going to do the Poly Photo session and watch her grow up in front of the castle (and of course, me age in front of the castle). I hope we will be able to continue our annual Mommy and Me vacations for a long time.
