HI, we are planning a trip to DL first few days of November and then off to the Monarch of the Seas Royal Caribbean cruise. I've never done either one before. Has anyone done this?? Is 3 days good enough for DL. What did you do for transportation to the Pier? Thanks for any information!

Kathy, where will you be staying? You will probably need to take a cab to the pier, and that will not be cheap. Are you sailing out of San Pedro?

Hi Michelle! I don't know the name of the Pier we will be leaving from yet, but I do know the departure is Los Angeles. I'm planning on doing Priceline for our hotel for our stay at DL. Planning on staying very close to the parks.

I'm thinking maybe rent a car from the airport to DL. Drive car to the pier. Maybe theres a rent a car place near the pier where we could drop the car off right before the cruise. (Have to look into this one).:D

I'm sure cabs are not cheap!!

Thanks for any info you may have.

When we went on Royal Carribean we left from San Pedro, that's probably where you are leaving from. We flew into LAX and the cruise line had a shuttle to take us to the pier - there was a charge for this, but it wasn't much. The pier is in a really industrial area and I don't remember rental car places, but there could have been some I just didn't see. If there's not, the only thing I can think of is to take your rental car back to the airport, drop it off then take the cruise line shuttle to the pier. You would of course have to arrange this ahead of time so they have a seat for you.

Have fun on your trip!

Probably the EASIEST (but not necessarily cheapest) thing to do would be to rent a car to take to DL and then drive that to the pier and just park there, then drive the car back to the airport on the way home. I'm not aware of any rental car drop-offs in San Pedro but there may be one.

If you want to do shuttles, you could take the Airport Bus or SuperShuttle from LAX to your DL hotel, take a cab to the pier, and then get RCCL transfers from the pier back to the airport.

Good luck! :)

We rented a car for our stay in Disneyland and picked it up and dropped it off at LAX. We arranged to catch the shuttle from the airport to the cruise ship at San Pedro. It was easy and convenient and the cruise personnel were looking for us as we came out of the rental car area. I would highly recommend doing it this way! This was our honeymoon and we thought it was fabulous. Three days is enough to have a great time between both Disneyland and the California Adventure park. DL will probably need 2 days and CA needs 1. Enjoy your vacation. I know it will be wonderful!

Well, I can tellyou what NOT to do !!! LOL...My DH is a public transportation nut, not a cheapskate, just philosphically a fan of public transport systems so he called and was told it would be easy to use public busses to get to the pier. NOT!!! Well, we ended up stranded in southeast LA and were picked up by a kindhearted police officer who said "You folks don't belong in this neighborhood and in abot 5 minutes you would be separated from your luggage and wallets!" He took us to the station and called us a cab. My kids never want to take public busses again.

My vote is to take the shuttle offered by the cruiseline, don't start your trip out with stress.:)
