Listening to our favorite Chicago news radio station just now and they had a quick story on Roy Disney resigning his post with a "blistering" letter to Michael Eisner asking him to resign as well. Roy cited Michael as the "cause of all of Disney's current problems...".
Ouch !
Sad in that Roy was the last Disney family member in the organization.
I guess I had no idea Roy and Michael stood at such opposite ends of the spectrum.
Any fallout?

According to YAHOO he didn't resign, but was forced out due to mandatory retirement age.

Some reports say that the "mandatory retirement age" is not mandatory and exceptions could be made (and have in the past). They chose not to make some exceptions this time in favor of getting rid of one of Eisner's harsh critics and a tie to the founders of the company. Nothing serves to really shackle the penny-pinching corporate types than a direct link to a visionary founder of a corporation. Those people with links to the visionary past always become a thorn in the sides of the corporate drones as they try to assemble empires and then break them up and sell them off for maximum personal profit and prestige.

Does the Disney Family own much or any of the corporation still? It would be terrible if they had no connection to the company that carries their name.

Last year Roy voted to change the age but was overruled. He may have thought he would have been made exeption, but wasn't. Eisner won't be required to retire until the age of 75.
The letter to Eisner was harsh, in my opinion.
Just heard it all on 'Today'.

Yeah, just think of what must have been going on behind the scenes to prompt a letter that pointed from him!
