Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

It's tornado watch time south of us and it's lightning city nearby but just far enough away. And it's pouring now. But I ate a paczki today against my better judgment (at least not the frosting kind) and so I stood in my gear staring out my front window like a grumpy cat just waiting and staring. And then I just went (after my hubby said "just go")
But to the gym...not running outside...I'm not that crazy...yet.

And now I'm home.

The end.

Since this has been medal month...the Shamrock Shuffle 8k swag has been released! The shirt is a little plain, but I'm digging that hat and THAT MEDAL. My Irish Lass-ness is super excited about the redesign. Now I wonder if it will be cold enough to wear the hat or not come April. With Chicago..who knows?

Love it!! I actually really like the shirt! I may be totally biased though...

Running twice at the weekend is tough, for our Dopey training I did my first run Friday and second run Saturday until the mileage got too high on Friday

Definitely agree with getting out early on the Saturday morning!

This is sooo me! Except for 2018 and I'm already planning now. LOL! I definitley have issues.

Luckily the first trip is a shortie to DL and that requires no FP+ and way less dining and just way less logistics on park days.
The WDW one in the Fall...I feel so behind the curve because things keep changing at WDW. Like Pandora is a thing now and I want to see all the reviews, etc. So yeah...probably stressing for no reason. But also the planning is SO MUCH FUN! I'm a masochist.

I always start towards the back at local races (Disney races is different because I need my shorter character lines). Even though I don't really chomp through the people ... it's way less scary than starting with all of the fast people. As fun as it is to get a really good corral placement ... it's also kinda terrifying to start in a really good corral.

I'vew got to assume that most of us here are totally Disney-planning masochists!!!

Nothing wrong with that. I had a few Paçzki yesterday and then also went to the gym.

I'm smack-dab in the middle of over-planning two disney trips this year and my loving hubby sent me this article which is so very very very funny and true. It's a few years old but new to me...

http://www.theonion.com/article/herculean-effort-astronomical-expense-lead-to-phot-28494

Not gonna stop me from getting that perfect castle shot though!

Too funny! I love The Onion. I got some really crazy looks from my family when I told them we are all going to wear matching shirts at least one day at Disney for our trip in April. Got to have that perfect family photo, you know! My 13 year old son has that whole "disgust" thing down pretty well. :sad2:

Is it weird that we have Irish themed races here? Like I'm trying to think if it would be weird if there were a ton of American themed races by you? Maybe its because we all know that Irish people are the coolest. (I may be biased)

Ok, glad I'm not the only one that wants to be a fast person and simultaneously gets scared by all the fast people :) I mean I know they are mostly all nice and lovely people...it's just a lot of pressure to keep up with their speediness out the gate.

I'vew got to assume that most of us here are totally Disney-planning masochists!!!

Yeah, I guess why would someone who isn't a planner even be on the disboards right :)

That is hilarious. :rotfl2:

Hilarious and yet so so true!

It's called "Fuel" right?

I may have bought my family matching disney pajama shirts one Christmas in the hopes they'd all wear them in the hotel together for like some form of photogenic slumber party. That didn't exactly happen. My 4 year old is starting to dress herself already, so I'm bracing myself for 13.

Ok so I only have three items on my agenda to discuss today.
1) I totally forgot to do my strength stuff last night! Like, I meant to, and I had planned to. After I tucked my kiddo in and got word my hubby would be home about 9ish I started doing dishes and cleaning up and then I went to bed and I just totally forgot. I guess its not routine yet for me so I gotta work it in...maybe Friday night.
2) Tempo run tonight. Treadmill city. Gotta check it off so that I can earn my starbucks on sunday post run :)
3)

Gaaaaaahhhhhh WANT IT!!! Welp looks like I'll be talking myself into a 5k and 10k in July again. They don't have the actual finisher medals announced yet though. I'm such a bling sucker.
So I looked at that weekend on the calendar and its the same weekend as Chorus Girl University which I was half thinking about doing maybe (fyi: it's like tap, charleston, flapper stuff and vintage hair and makeup...not like anything "adult") So I guess I have some decisions to make. But Gaaaaah I like that medal!

I currently feel lost (and relieved?) without my WDW trip spreadsheet to update today, so I can totally relate. (I think a wristlet was a great choice btw... I had a little catch up reading to do :) )

ETA: That medal = !

Maybe you can go back and update your spreadsheet with a tab of what you actually ended up doing? Or would that make you miss WDW too much?
I'm happy about the wristlet choice too...just frees up extra $ for the NB or official merch booth. See, by not buying the giant purse I'm SAVING money!
That medal right???? ugh!

It's a bit unusual I guess but then again there are so many Americans with Irish heritage that love to celebrate that! Look at how big St Patrick's Day celebrations are in the states! It's great that the Irish have such a great reputation and definitely something to be proud of. Now if only we had an Irish pavilion at Epcot haha

How funny would that be? Like - people dress as Uncle Sam running it or whatever. Or Betsy Ross. Hahahaha

THAT MEDAL THO...but your danging event sounds really cool too. Tough decision!

YES PLEASE!! The UK pavilion doesn't count!

I guess the one corner of the one store with random Guiness t-shirts probably doesn't count right? My neighborhood in Chicago has more Irish flags up year round than US ones, so there would be people who appreciate a full pavilion. So now we just need ideas for a ride? hmmmmm

That medal!!!! :lovestruc

I KNOW! So much more detailed than last year. I guess it's the 20th anniversary of RnR so maybe they are stepping up their remix medal game. Makes me wonder how cool the actual finisher ones will be???

Maybe I can be a masochist and do the running and the dancing? And then not move or walk for a month after???

Exactly! I don't get it... there is so much 'Irish' in America! It's surprising how many people think that Ireland is part of the UK and the fact that they sell Irish stuff in the UK pavilion doesn't help! It's the same as having no Canadian pavilion but selling all the Canadian stuff in the American pavilion... Particularly insensitive when you take in account the history between Ireland and the UK and how hard we fought for our independence... ANYWAY... I better not get too far into or I might go on a major RANT haha

When I visited my Irish relatives in New York (Staten Island) I saw so many Irish flags! Ooooh a ride... hmmm... I think it would be awesome to have something that talked about Irish history and Irish folklore (Irish mythology)... there are so many interesting stories to tell! Don't know how you'd work a story telling ride, they'd usually be told around a fire or in a pub haha

Shhh, you know what happens around here when you get crazy ideas! People talk you into things!...

Right there with you. Like - there's an Ireland booth during food & Wine, so that's cool, but I NEED an entire, permanent pavilion. Please and thank you, Disney.

You're totally right about Ireland stuff in the UK pavilion. Not cool! I also always scratched my head that that'd have Off Kilter (WAHHH I miss them) perform in the Canada Pavilion, because I knew them from years of seeing them at Irish Festivals. :confused3 It's like...they WANT to have Irish stuff in the World Showcase, but no pavilion for it. They being Disney and/or the Irish government (whom I know would need to fund said pavilion). Anyway...Erin go Bragh!!!
