Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

Thanks for mentioning the Hamilton special. My husband is a huge fan. My sister in law was fortunate to watch one of the last shows with Lin Manuel and she said it was amazing. I've only seen a few shows on Broadway, but I think the national touring ones are great too.

@disneydaydreamer33 did you get SHN season tickets to ensure tickets to Hamilton? We really considered it. Not sure how you feel about Hedwig, but as I mentioned before, the show was fantastic! A completely different vibe from most musicals. Take a listen to some of the songs (origin of love, wicked little town, long grift), they're total ear worms.
No I didn't get season tickets. I live in Utah, but my parents live in Stockton and in my in-laws live in Livermore, so we go to San Francisco often. We were really close to biting the bullet and buying Broadway Hamilton tickets when they realized a bunch more after the Tonys (my brother and his wife did buy some!), but since we didn't do that and seeing it in SF won't require expensive hotels or plane tickets, I'm OK paying high scalping prices if need be. I HAVE TO SEE HAMILTON! lol

Also, I've heard really good things about Hedwig!

I am deeply into musical theater (Hedwig is amazing! Lion King isn't my favorite, but it's one of the most visually beautiful shows I've ever seen!)), and I am deeply jealous you've seen Hamilton already. I'm not going until March.

Love that cherry blossom top!! Welcome to the InB addiction. :faint:

What is that feeling where you both want something to be totally amazing but at the same time want it to be not so amazing that you have to get a second mortgage to afford more? Wait, that is highly reminiscent of how I feel every time I am about to go to Disney too :)

I am jealous that you get to go in March. It's like coming home from Disney...I immediately get jealous of everyone who still gets to go on their trips.

See - I was able to bring things back to Disney, because that's what I do best :)

Ok, so something running related I was thinking about but have not even looked too closely in execution. Do you think the following is a good idea or too much of a hassle. Would it be fun to make playlists for a run for each other, like on spotify? I'm not sure exactly how it would work and even if everyone has spotify...or other types of music services, so really this is an idea in its infancy.
I thought it could be cool to make a playlist and have everyone go listen to it (maybe make it short, like 30-45 minutes so people who don't do mega-long-runs can still participate.)
I don't really know everyones personal taste in music, but maybe that's the point to give things a try? I dunno...the idea needs some work and fleshing out.

But it'd be cool to be like "hey guys, I made a broadway running playlist" or "I made a 90's disney playlist" or "I made a totally random songs you've never heard of, maybe" playlist????

I love the idea! I usually use apple music for my playlists, but I think it would be really fun to listen to what others have put together, so I'd be good to with spotify!

Fun idea! I also pretty much just use apple music, so I'd have to learn how to use spotify, but it would be fun I think.

So I think this weekend I will attempt to make a playlist and see if people like it. Or if anyone wants to send one my way I will try your favorite music out too (no rush, anytime, just a silly idea.) Or I will get really busy and it will wait for next week...but soon! I have an idea for first one but have to see if I can find the right songs.

Tomorrow I have to go get a new phone. My current one is dying on me and I've had it well past the time period when you can get a new one. It's as old as my daughter basically. Which means it has seen the entirety of my running journey as well as all my late night sleepless rocking chair moments when that's how my kiddo wanted to rest. It's been on my arm for every run (except for that one time it froze and had to bounce around in my hoodie pocket downtown.) Why am I being so sentimental over a hunk of plastic? Especially one that is basically freaking out and sending texts incorrectly and being a jerk closing my apps on me. I kind of felt that way about my first pair of running shoes, but I hung onto them too long and they ended up hurting me. And I moved on.
Anyone else get sappy and attached to your running stuff? Especially when you first started.

Although the nice thing about moving on to new stuff is .....NEW STUFF!

And lord knows I don't mind getting some new stuff :)

I have nothing to add about any runs I've done because my next run is scheduled for tonight. I have a leftover amazing sandwich to act as my carrot for getting my run in. I grilled some turnip strips (size of french fries) with bbq seasonings and then tempura battered and pan fried some avocado in olive oil to get all crispy good. And then put some lime zest in crema and spread that on long rolls that I filled with the veggies and put in a pan and placed a pot on top to make them really "pressed." OMG it was so good that I forgot to take a pic. I'll try to get a pic of my second sandwich tonight. And that's progress from my old lifestyle...I wrapped up and put away my second sandwich before I had the chance to decide to eat a second sandwich!

Fried avocado?! That sandwich sounds so yummie!

So easy. Get some tempura dry mix, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup water. Whisk it up and and salt n pepper. Throw in slices of avocado and coat. Drop the pieces in a hot pan of olive oil....I go light to "try" to be healthy. Like one tbsp only. Cook about 2-4 min per side. Now you have crispy lil yums! But let them cool a bit on paper towel.

Also @Ariel484 my InknBurn arrived!!! And it's so pretty and it fits! Can't wait to get my new phone so I can show pics. :). Now I need to study proper race clothes modeling techniques.

Well I wasn't able to do any of my runs outdoors this week until today. So that tempo run wasn't blind (I mean I could cover a treadmill screen but I think that would miss the point.). But I thankfully was able to my long run outside just now.
And it was 8 miles. Dun dun dun. (My phone tried to autocorrect that to "Fun fun fun")
I was a bit it denial I had this mileage, and hubby already did it so he gave me his route. A kind of out and back figure 8. I couldn't really cut it short once I reached the top of the 8 so once I got there, I had to do the whole distance.
I listened to Hamilton (no surprise) and actually at one point was on Hamilton St for 4 blocks. And I did some funky hills.
My goal was 11:01 miles.
I kind of stopped paying attention to my watch after mile 3 until it buzzed at me each mile. So I wasn't perfect.
10:47
11:06
11:05
11:21
11:40 Up Hilllllls
11:17 flat
10:58 dooooown hills
11:11
1:29:30 11:11 avg.

My watch says 2338 calories burned. I know that's not totally accurate but I can see why people "fuel". I had half pack of beans before and rest after. No water breaks and I was fine. It was 67 degrees and windy.

So thoughts:
I can finish 9.3!
I have doubts about doing 9.3 at my tempo or faster. I can do 5 miles I know but I'm scared of the thought of pushing it farther.
But I can at least do the distance, I know it!

Now is this officially taper time or is that only for marathons? When does madness set in.
And dang are my legs feeling heavy now when they didn't a short while ago.

Congratulations! Woohoo girl, you should be proud! It will only get "fun fun funner" from here ;)

I have a working camera on my phone again! So I have to share my new "precious"...the TBT Cherry Blossom tech from ink n burn. Pardon my terrible selfie as I am just generally not a selfier . Gotta practice my pic skills for Tink weekend. This is what I plan to wear to tink (well not these black long pants though) hence my topknot.

My fave color is the coral/orangey/flamingo/pink of my phone case and this shirt matches. Score!

OMG TWO MORE WEEKS!

It's crazy to get past the 8 mile long run hump and see only two weeks left on my training plan. Time really has flown between my "fun" July challenge weekend "B" races and now here we are heading towards the end of October already!
So I guess let's talk about this week's plan.

First things first: My hubby & I shouldn't have any oddball plans this week and shouldn't have any late nights with work (knock on wood) so that is going to really help out both of our training for this race. I feel so bad for hubby not getting in the miles he wanted last week.
Second thing: Kiddo has a cold but seems to be on the recovery end of it. Pray we all end up a healthy little bunch this week.
Third thing: My mama was in the hospital this weekend which was scary. But they caught a blood clot forming from her port (for chemo) and they were able to treat with medicine and release her yesterday. Puts into huge perspective how lucky I am to be healthy and that she was able to bounce back from that scary event. Everyone go hug your people today!

Monday: REST! (hubby runs)
Tuesday: 5 miles @ EA - treadmill fun
Wednesday: REST! (hubby swims)
Thursday: 1 mi WU + 5miles @ Tempo + 1 mi CD - treadmill "Fun" - I will be soooooo sad to say goodbye to these 5 mile tempo runs next week (sarcasm)
Friday: Pizza?...nooooo...I will try to be a healthy human leading up to this race as best I can.
Saturday: 5 miles @ EB.....OOOOOOHHHHH and EB instead of an LR! Sure thing!
(hubby runs a few more times sandwiched in there)

So really Thursday is my last "hard" training run surrounded by a bunch of "easy." And then race day will be hard...but hopefully the lure of chocolate makes it easier. :)

The 14 day forecast includes my race. Shows 55 deg (yay) with rain (boo!) But a forecast for rain in Chicago generally means no-rain because Chicago weather is insane.

Ummmmm...so this needs to be purchased if they have it at the hot chocolate expo (there will be a sweaty band booth.)
