Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

This morning I had an email from Sweatybands with a free shipping code....it's like they are monitoring my journal.
So I went ahead and ordered the cherry blossom band, and to add an even better twist...I had loyalty points in my account that I didn't realize I had. So it definitely ended up cheaper than if I'd have just got it at the expo (and there's a chance it wouldn't have even been at the booth.)
Yay!

Now I just have to wait until May to wear it all. Except I'll probably take the outfit for a test drive or two leading up to it.

Well done on your eight mile training run!! You are so ready for this race!!!

Hope your mom is continuing to do well. Scary stuff to end up with a clot in her port. I'm so glad she was able to recover quickly from that.

You look amazing in that InB shirt. Fits you perfectly and you look so cute and clearly that sweaty band was destiny - especially with those loyalty points. SCORE!!!

Thanks! I try not to focus on the "what if" with the worst case scenarios for my mom...so I try to focus on the positives, like that she caught it and it's being treated. I just wish she could "catch a break" soon. Seems like every victory and there's another challenge around the corner. But she's a fighter that's for sure!

I'm officially calling my headband the "sweatyband of destiny" from now on. Maybe it'll become a good luck race band. :)

I have a Halloween themed event now for this Sunday and I'm thinking of just using my Minnie Mouse running outfit from marathon weekend for my costume. On "real" Halloween I am being Capt America (the mom version) along with my superhero family but it's a Target, not very breathable, kid of cheapy costume that I just plan on wearing that one time. So I was thinking this Sun. I'd be comfy in my minnie sparkle skirt, black shirt, minnie baseball cap, and my minnie shoe bows on my sneakers. That seems like a good costume right? That will be comfy. Think I will look like a socially acceptable Halloween person? I could just always go hair bow instead of hat. But I think the sneaks with bows is kind of fun.

Anyone wear their Disney running attire outside Disney?

Ok, thank you. I am known to panic at the thought of doing something incorrectly. My current proof estimates out to 2:26 using one popular calculator and 2:24 using another. And the range I choose was 2:21 to 2:25. I had a mild panic attack at the thought of being bumped to the last corral if Disney didn't like my selected time.
My plan B right now is to go crush my next race to submit a better time...but no idea if I can physically do it yet. Thanks for the reply!

Everyone have fun at your races. I'm rooting for you all :)

I KNOW YOU CAN PHYSICALLY DO IT! ::yes::

I do! :wave2: (Of course full disclosure is I wear my singlets and shorts in Disney...) But I have worn my Disney race shirts a few times to races and people give me some shout-outs.

When I try to get better than 10:28 pace at my big race, then I'll be sure to submit a new proof :). Better?

Positive thinking...positive thinking...positive thinking

I'm pretty sure I'm right on the B/C Tink corral bubble. It'd be nice to tilt myself a lil closer off the bubble :)

Exciting news..I will probably be able to do my easy long run on the lakefront path this weekend. I hope it works out. I'm about 45 min away from my date with Mr. Treadmill tonight.

When you crush that 15k, then you'll update your POT! ::yes::

Your current 10K PR is 1:05:06. Which McMillan translates to a 2:25:08 half marathon or a 2:23:31 by my race equivalency. That looks like a solid corral B to me.

But your 15k goal race pace would give you an estimated HM of 2:09:15. Which means you could be in corral A! Woot Woot! A 2:15-2:16 HM in a 15K cutoff time is a 1:33:49 (10:04) to 1:34:31 (10:08). So keep that in the back of your mind during race day. No matter what though lots of time before the POT cutoff of 2/14/17. You got this!

Well I'd never even considered A so I didn't do the math. That'd be unexpected and cool. I'll just put that little new secret goal in my back pocket.
Easier to get that corral at Tink than marathon weekend (sorry fast men), might as well try for it right?

Just finished doing this...IMG_8170.JPG
No I didn't run 5 miles in 4.31 minutes...my machine was in forced cool down mode.

That means only 4 more runs until race day!

I love the InB top. Looks amazing on you!!

In terms of Disney clothing outside of Disney ... I wear my costumes and race shirts on training runs fairly regularly. I haven't worn it for a non-Disney race, but I've also only done all of one non-Disney race in my life, so that's not a big sample size. I'd say go for it - it adds some fun to the event (because a race centered around chocolate really needs help being fun...)

Mmmmm chocolate. I keep forgetting the end goal is glorious chocolate.

Okay, so I just found this training journal roxymama - forgive me, I'm a little slow sometimes and a bit pre-occupied lately. You will totally crush your 15K!

And OMG, Inknburn - how did I not know about this!!! :D

Haha, It's totally ok. It may take you five years to read through all my ramblings. Yeah, 15k is "my marathon" this year. I'll be rooting for you during your 26.2!!!

If you like anything Inknburn DON'T READ @Ariel484 journal! It will tempt you and you will need a new mortgage on your house :)
(actually go over there and read it, she posts the best outfit pics!)

FYI @michigandergirl you make an appearance on page 35 :)

This gives me a good idea...I am going to try to put links to my recaps on my front page where I have all my completed races listed. Something to do today over my lean cuisine at my desk during lunch. Take my journal into the modern era.

Was it a delicious lean cuisine? As good as the apple mentioned elsewhere? :rotfl2:

Ok, race recap links added to front page. Lean cuisine consumed. Apples drooled over. Now I just need to complete my tempo run tonight and it's a successful day :)
