Route 81 to 77 South Drivers: Places to stop?

Hi there!

Since there are a lot of threads on Route 95, I thought I'd see if anyone has any recommendations on places to stop at along the 81/77 route instead?

Places to eat? Sites to see? Hotels you'd recommend?

Any and all info welcome!

We are in HHI this week and we drove down starting Saturday morning. WE stopped in Christiansburg, VA around 5:30 pm and had dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and then got a room at the Holiday Inn Express. I think it was exit 118C off of 81. We got the room for $88/night + tax. Very clean hotel and great breakfast the next morning.

How long was your total ride if you don't mind me asking?

We'll be travelling I81 this August and plan on stopping in Natural Bridge, VA. This is on the way home so we will spend two nights giving us a day to just relax and see the sights. If you are looking for a couple of hours to get out and strecth you have Luray Caverns just a bit north of of where I64 meets I81 in VA
