We are down to 1 debt besides the mortgage and I am anxious to get it paid off! Trying to dig up 'forgotten' cash to pay it off. Here's what I've thought of so far:

spare change- $24 (we cash out our spare change pretty regularly)
cashout from paypal-$38
recycle aluminum cans from garage- $50
return stuff i've been meaning to return 53.47
use up giftcards- 15.85 from target, $10 Chilis, $10.50 Subway
sell old cell phone- $140
listed some stuff on eBay and half.com
sell broken gold bracelet I found $146
$15 swagbucks from paypal giftcard sale
$5 paypal from another reward site
cash out upromise (only has $5 available and about $30 pending so going to hold off on this)
missingmoney.com/IndianaUnclaimed.com- DH had $50! And I had checked within the last month, so keep checking yours too!
Savings bonds that aren't earning interest to speak of-160.22
Medical Reimbursement- $42
Close small checking account left over from when we switched banks $145.85
focus groups?
Any other ideas I may be forgetting?
Any CDs or DVDs we are interested in selling are already on half.com
REALLY want to pay it off but not badly enough to sell plasma!
Thanks for the help!

Do you have any kids?

People are starting to look for summer clothes. I made a enough for one airline ticket last weekend selling DD's clothes. In the past I have taken less expensive or play clothes and put them by size in trash bags and listed them on Craigslist (i.e. 40 pieces of 3T summer clothes for $X)

Any outdoor toys kids have outgrown? People around here go nuts for Little Tikes and Step 2 outdoor stuff (playhouses, picnic tables, cozy coupes). Also bicycles.

Do you have any cc rewards or rewards programs you could cash in on? You could get something like a Walmart GC to use for groceries then use the cash you would've spent on groceries to pay toward debt.

Oh good thought! At first I thought not because we just got the annual cash back from our one card and the other is the Disney Visa, but DH has a work amex with tons of points!

Sadly, no, we do not have kids yet.

on the little tikes note - I make hundreds over the summer going to garage sales ans reselling on CL and bookoo.

There is a woman here who makes $ that way as well. She must garbage pick/garage sale shop for free/cheap little tikes & step 2 products. She brings them home, cleans them up & has a huge sale once per year. My neighbor has gotten many items from her, in great shape, for less than half of what they sell for new.

That's a good list & something I need to work on as well.

How about old music CDs or DVDs to sell?
Any co-pays or medical expenses you're expecting a reimbursement on?

Flexible spending accounts - health or childcare - reimbursements you haven't submitted yet?

Unfortunately neither of our employers has gotten around to offering flexible spending yet.

Ohhh thanks for the reminder. I didn't think my regular medical insurance covered eye exams, and it does, so I need to submit that for reimbursement.

I also remembered that DH and I have a few savings bonds in the safe that are earning next to no interest, so we can cash those in as well.

DH gets fairly attached to media (dvds and cds anyway) so that may be a challenge but I'll give it a try.

spare change- haven't counted yet
cashout from paypal-$38
recycle aluminum cans from garage- $50return stuff i've been meaning to return
use up giftcards- just have one from target
sell old cell phone- $140
listed some stuff on eBay and half.com
sell broken gold bracelet I found
$15 swagbucks from paypal giftcard sale
cash out upromise
missingmoney.com- nothing lately!

Just curious, how many cans do you have to have to earn $50? I've been looking for a good way for the kids to earn a little extra $$.

When cashing in your spare change, don't forget to clear out both cars, old purses and pockets of jackets you haven't worn in awhile. Maybe you'll get lucky and find some dollars, too!

I don't have any other suggestions, but I'm dying to know where you sell old cell phones. DH thinks he needs a new one about every year! :rotfl:

A LOT! DH put up a collection bin in his office. I read this morning that there are 32 cans in a pound, and when I took the cans in I got .55/lb.

Besides cans do you have any other junk metal items floating around? Some metals are worth a lot of money (copper and brass in particular are several dollars per lb.) and others are just pennies (steel) but in a situation where every dollar counts - it's a great way to clear out some junk.

When we replaced our screen door they gave me $6 for the old one! My neighbors keep throwing out large metal stuff but DH doesn't want to let me trash pick. He thinks it's embarrassing.

Thanks so much for the ideas everyone! I am just SHOCKED how much it's added up to! I have way more Disney fabric than I will probably realistically use so I may look at putting some of that up on ebay this weekend too. If anyone thinks of anything else please let me know!

Along the same lines as "media", do you have any books you could sell? If you don't want to wait for them to sell on amazon, ebay or half.com there are 2 or 3 websites for used book sellers that buy them. I'm on my way out the door right now, but when I get home I can look them up and post the websites for them if anyone's interested. They don't pay alot, but I think I averaged $1 a book (including children's books) which is still better than if I'd sold them at a garage sale.
