Hey, I was wondering if the rotten corpse flower bloomed this past weekend at Animal Kingdom? It was supposed to.

I have no idea, but my parents had one of those things and I swear to you they should be outlawed! YUCK!!!! :earboy2:

So....where is this 'flower' at AK?

I saw the sign when we were there last week but haven't heard if it bloomed.

I was wondering if it bloomed also? I think it would be neat to see! 8 days till we play at the Mouse's house!!

How long does it stay open? We're not going till november, so I doubt I'll see it, but that would be so cool!

Yikes! I've never heard of a rotten corpse flower before. Anyone have a picture of one to post?

This is not the one at WDW, but it gives you an idea of what one looks like. It is called Titan Arum. They are huge, the second picture will give you an idea of how big they can be. The one at WDW was on pace to beat the world record for the largest Titam Arum bloom ever.

That IS bloomed. The reason that plant produces such a nasty odor is because it is so ugly. Colorful flowers attract birds and bees to aid in pollinization. Since this plant doesn't have that. It has developed this terrible odor that it emits. The odor attracts flies, which in turn attract the birds.

No- not as of Saturday- in fact- it didn't look near that stage to me or my mom, who is a master gardner. In fact, she and another woman placed it near the 3rd stage on the chart.

I would like to know where in Ak is also. I have never heard of this flower before - it is a little uhh "absurd" looking

:rotfl2: Y'all made me snort!!

I want to know too where in the AK this located...Maybe over by the bone yard!!!! :earboy2:

So this doesn't do pollinization? how does it reproduce exactly? interesting thing, anyone know where this is native to? I would like to see it also, and I take it it is a big deal when these bloom, so what is the time scheme between bloomings? i dont know why this has peaked my interest, maybe because its so freaky looking! lol
