Everyone has said the right things, including having everyone in your party who has a phone to have that app ready to go at 6:59am. My phone had issues with the app, but my friend, a WDW first timer, got through on the ILL. So glad we didn't leave it all up to me!
1) ILL for RotR
2) Rope drop RotR even if you have an ILL. Ride twice!
3) Park close ride. Three times in one day would be awesome for catching details.
4) Plan more than one DHS day if you can, or have Parkhoppers, or be prepared to upgrade to PHs if your DHS day goes sideways. If you have SW fans in your party, nothing else at all the other parks is going to top this.
5) Gravy: If it works out on ILL,
Genie+, and/or standby lines, it was FABULOUS to take my friend on the three SW rides in this order: first Star Tours (easy to do as you can pass it on the way to Batuu), then MFSR, and then RotR. The day just kept building.
It was our arrival day, and we didn't get to DHS until 2pm, so we couldn't rope drop RotR. I still rec rope dropping of you get there early, just because the ride goes down. We arrived for our ILL on the dot of the window opening to find the ride down. We went for a bathroom and water-refill break and a little bazaar look. We came back 30 minutes later to find it had just reopened and we walked on with our ILL. But get on RotR whenever you can. GL!
