Here's a rookie question:

I'm staying in site now, and am planning to check out HS on Monday-- how early do the *parking lots* open? Was planning to be at the gate around 6, but the buses don't run that early afaik, so we wanted to drive ourselves.

And would anyone happen to know if they're doing a 6 AM open on Monday as well?

they've been opening the parking lot around 4:30am. As for exxact time of park opening, they make that decision on the day. But I believe they 6:30am opening will be happening for the time being, or at least through the rest of the season

Don't know your full plan for Monday, but I am also planning on attending Monday. My plan is to arrive at HS leisurely at 7:00am (with my whole group), tap in, get my boarding group, then enjoy the rest of the day . No stresssssssssss

Sometime last night WDW changed HS to 8am open, out to Jan 4.

As noted by a PP, the scheduled 9am park opening today per Disney's website did not change with yesterday's updates.

My guess is the not running during EMH is a kind of statement, especially with expected reliability issues, so they can choose whether or not to run it and people will have less of a leg to stand on when they are upset.

I bet for the most part we see if running so they can start cycling through as many people as possible.

NEWS: Sunday 12/8 Hours Update

DHS park hours for tomorrow in the app are now posted as:

6am - 8am Extra Magic Hours

8am - 9pm Park Hours

It doesn't appear the website is updated yet, but I assume it will be shortly. (The website typically lags the app like that when park hours are adjusted)

Likely a very good change given how the last two days have been managed and throwing in the EMH wrinkle.

OMG. I’ve been following this for days and our plan was to arrive at 6:45 tomorrow which I think would have worked (if they did EMH as advertised and let people in an hour early). Not sure I can get my family there at 6 AM… Or 5 AM for that matter! Ugh.

What do you experts think the chance is of us getting boarding before 3pm is if we arrive before 7:00 tomorrow as a resort guest? I know there’s no way to know, I’m just looking for best guesstimate LOL.

Ok so I cancelled my original boarding group after I posted then tried to join again and got BG70
However, as we were exiting they were scanning your band again. I asked what it was for, as I had already joined another BG and she looked surprised and was like “that’s what we are trying to avoid, and give someone else a chance”. Fair enough

So they are trying to stop the double bookings anyway

Other people have reported that 2nd scan allowed them to book a 2nd group I thought? Does that CM mean just delaying the booking 30-60 mins or so?

Interesting question. No idea if Disney can mobilize transportation given the late hours update, or if that was already planned, etc. I would 'hope' buses would be readily available for resort guests to take advantage of their EMH benefit, as they were with the EEMHs (but that's just a guess on my part).

Thanks for the info! I just checked the app and Sunday has EMH added to it staying at 6am. So I guess they're deciding 24 hours in advance about early openings.

CM are basically "o call" on their available days. Basically they just change the time they need to come in. So buses should be running earlier

Yes; that’s why the CM was surprised.

We have a similar plan! Thanks to this board, my stress has greatly reduced now that I have a solid strategy that will likely work.

If you're planning on rope drop, as with anything at WDW, an hour before opening time, so 5am.
Best case scenario: you tap into the park, join a BG and the ride is open
Worst case scenario: you tap into the park, join a BG, the ride is not open yet, you can go do the rest of the attraction while hold your place in the VQ and you're one of the first to ride for the day

That would be about 30 more than yesterday then. I wonder if they did that because they have fewer recovery FPs to accommodate today.
