RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

As for the 6 am open, I get the frustration on “missing out” but the fact is by opening early the park is serving all guests more. That means more operation time for all rides. If DHS opened at 9, those that arrived at 8:45 would still have been shut out. Even factoring in the re riders, three extra hours of operation is still more people riding.
I’m shocked this info didn’t leak though. Kind of impressed about that. All those CM’s had to have known they were working at 6am.

Improvement would be to announce the 6 opening.

The first day I can understand and expect, anything past that is deceptive. Within an hour of stated opening time okay, not 3 hours that’s crazy.
Sometime yesterday the posted opening time on the app was 8a

For people there, has Oga's been open before the advertised opening time? If so, right at 6? We will be there in 2 weeks and will keep following along to see the trends as far as what time to get there and such, but wondering about my 915 Oga's reservation and what I should do with it since it doesn't help get you on the ride or isn't needed to get in the land.

When we got to the ride for our boarding number which was before park official open time they suggested we hang out at the cantina so I am guessing it was open early

Because I don't want to think park opens at 8 and find out everyone was there at 6 and all the boarding passes are gone. :confused3

It's not a big deal, I'm sure things will be sorted by May. I was more just conversing.

that’s not a virtual queue problem. That’s a Disney operations problem. They need to just go back to the 6 or 7am daily openings like they did when the land opened. No EMH because then there is no way for non park guests to get a boarding group.

Opening a little early to accommodate the big crowd outside isn’t a huge deal, especially opening day. But when you change from 8am one day to 9am the next but still open the park 3 hours early (knowingly having CMs ready that early) then that’s crazy.

RotR isn’t considered an EMH attraction. Really this isn’t too different than the early days of Pandora. People lined up well before park opening and many days the park opened early to accommodate.

I know it isn’t, and DHS also isn’t stated to open until 9. Not like they can’t go back on what they said if it’s able to function those extra hours a day.

BTW for next week CM are scheduled to be ready by 8am.

Just to clarify, as we fly in tomorrow evening. We plan to go to HS on Sunday morning and Monday morning. So CMs are scheduled to be at work at 6 on Sunday and 8 on Monday? I want to be there at opening - whatever time that's going to be.

simple google search will do.
If I'm visiting WDW for opening of rise google "tips for riding rise of the resistance at hollywood studios"
I guess it's how much you value your money, again if I'm spending a lot on a vacation I would want to be prepared. Sure people come here blindly but at that point it's on them for not researching

People could have researched this to death ahead of time, but nobody knew about the virtual ride queue, or inability to ride standby opening day. And I’m not sure anybody could have predicted the boarding groups would be full before the park officially opened.

Or did they? Maybe it’s just me. Lol.

Pandora opened pre park opening for a long time but was never operated in a manner that completely cut off a guest’s ability to ride the ride if they chose to wait in line (with the exception of that period of time where they would cut the standby line off later in the day which happened for a bit that opening summer)....so while somewhat analogous, there are some fundamental differences here given the surprise use of the VQ for the ride.

It does sound like the VQ is the best alternative to deal with the peculiarities of this particular ride and its operating habits so far though.

Not just you. ;)

And do you know how many people had no idea about Pandora's early, unannounced openings? And why would they if they weren't planning a trip during this time. So of course they wouldn't expect that for their current trip.
And they still had the choice to wait in line at Pandora if they wanted.

I'm sure the virtual line is better, it's just the unannounced earlier opening that's crap.

Looks like it’s back up again. Calling for group 26 now. But I’m guessing it will take over an hour again to call any new groups.

I am going to try tomorrow. I live about an hour and half away, and was originally planning to leave my house at 5:00
Now I am not so sure, as I expect Saturday to have higher crowds than a weekday. I may leave at 4:30
ahhhhhhhh!
I will post my experience
