Totally get you now! I wasn’t thinking of Olga plus Droid Depot same day. Have fun!

yeah, we are only doing one DHS day so trying to cram everything it. I've tried to move my Oga's to later in the day just to have a larger gap, but nothing available so far

At least we have some time as not going until February and will monitor how things work (and it might be a totally different system in place by then anyway)

Wow, the boarding groups seem to be moving pretty quickly based on the posts ITT.

We will be there next week, our plan was to hit TSL first since we have an early FP for a ride there.

Curious what the wait is for someone that joined a boarding group say around 830/9am this morning? Also I am not familiar with how boarding groups work, so you simply add yourself through the MDE app? Can you add your family as well like any other FP selection?

Sounds like it's similar to fast pass in that you can add a group. The only difference is you have to be near HS to join the boarding group.

Right around 8:30 this morning is when they stopped issuing new boarding groups altogether, so they had already filled the entire day's wait times. We'll have to see what it's like for the next few days - opening day is typically the biggest wait, of course, but from the sound of it, this will remain very high in demand due to the quality of the ride, so the earlier in the morning you can get to the parks, the better.

I'm planning to be there a couple hours before the opening time on Saturday, because I'll need to leave the park a little after lunch time. I'll definitely be watching how the timing for everything goes tomorrow, too.

We were considering trying to do this on saturday. Park opens at 9, was thinking of a 7am arrival. Hoping that will be early enough. Will keep watching for reports tommorow as I assume today is likely the busiest day.

The 1 hour total time is kind of annoying as we need to do rider swap. Its going to hard to keep the 2 year old little sister entertained for 2 consecutive hours.

A CM said we could (not that I trust random CMs) but others posted they did and still kept place and they rode. And I’ve been out of the park for over two hours and still in the virtual queue.

Yes you can. My mother went back to the car to get some things before we rode. Her ticket wasn't linked to ours.

I agree. I’m hoping the additional waiting in between parts of the attraction is lessened as kinks are worked out, and it was not planned to take that long.

Walked over from YC, got to HS security about 5:15am. 5:30 via MDE we got boarding group 35. 11:00 received update via MDE that our group was called. Started moving thru the line @ 11:15. At this point, 11:35, CM sez we should be about 20 minutes away from starting the “ride”.

what time did the parking lot open this morning?

I'm gonna try on Monday, but obviously I won't be to get there as early as others who are on property already

Ok, never used a virtual queue before. Does everyone in my group have to have the My Disney App on their phones or can I simply sign up for the group boarding for my whole group? I have two older individuals that don't use smart phones in my group.

Also, do we all have to be in Hollywood Studios if we all need the App? So, can I go over to HS early and sign up for the boarding while the rest of my family is getting ready at the resort? Can we leave HS to head over to EP while waiting and then come back when our group is called?

You can control everyone’s VQ spot through the app you just have to be connected in MDE.

VQ and boarding groups are like fp. It's done through MDE, and one person can sign the family up as long as they are managing them on MDE
you have to be at DHS, in or around, people have reported being at bag check and able to join
everyone has to be there as they track where you are through MDE
after joining you can leave and return. When it's your turn to board MDE sends you a push notification and you have up to two hours to go on the ride

How was getting to the park? Was it better to walk from YC or drive and park? I’m assuming buses are the wrong way to go as they will be too late.

seems like people that walked over from boardwalk area got there/in line earlier than those that drove as the parking lots didn't open until 4am (and then was a line to get in, etc.) ... but for the most part those that drove over and were in line at 4am still got a relatively love boarding group number, etc, just not as good
