RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

Or will ROTR draw such crowds that they go back to VQ for all of SWGE?

I think that's the beauty of the whole VQ system. They proved they could effectively manage land entry using VQ, dynamically (turning it on and off through the day). It didn't get MUCH use because crowds petered out after opening weekend, but it seemed to work well. Now they've got proof of concept that it also works for individual rides. They can basically turn it on and off as the crowd demand changes.

That being said, I don't think the crowds will die out as fast as they did for the land opening - at that time a hurricane changed a LOT of people's vacation plans, plus only one ride was going to be open. But I think things will even out sooner than later, and VQ may just be needed for major ride openings in the future.

The Boarding System is great, because people are having other experiences other than waiting in line. Every minute someone is waiting in line is a minute they're not spending at another gift shop or in an eatery or at another part of the park.

My guess is 60-90 minutes average wait time makes a Boarding System unnecessary, but with something highly anticipated like this it makes perfect sense.

I must say I'm super impressed with both the opening for Galaxy's Edge back in August as well as this opening today. The communication about the new system could have been better, but as someone who isn't there, the implementation sounds pretty solid.

no need for apologies AT ALL. your info and updates were important to hear!

Thank you!

Yay! Now I don't have to buy you a downer drink :rotfl:

Haha, sorry I didn’t even see your earlier message until now! Wish I had as I could have of offered to get one of the MB’s you wanted!

How is it do you think, for someone who struggles with motion sickness? Can you compare it to say Star Tours?

My husband suffers from motion sickness badly on ST but was fine on ROTR. Also fine on SR.

I feel so bad for the CM's working today. Gonna get so much heat for something that is out of their control

To be fair, all guests we saw were polite. The only trouble we saw was someone from a very popular blogging site trying to push past security early this morning but he was forced to go back round to go through the X-ray scanner. Was quite funny after hearing them discuss stuff at the gate queue! We did hear one woman complain and ask for another FP to something else as well as a return to ROTR but she articulated herself well and was not shouting or even raised her voice.

Disney is reportedly happy with the opening so far and guest reviews they are getting have been "exceptional"

We had all the suits at the exit and they were filming us and took time to ask us what we thought. Was hoping to meet Scott Trowbridge again like we did in DL in May but no such luck. It’s almost like they were hiding from the chaos out front. :P

So after a 2 hour nap, a dip in Stormalong Bay and a refreshing Pina Colava, it’s time to head back for our 50’s ADR and to hopefully see the drone testing which is apparently taking place tonight.

We did get another boarding group. It’s 142 so not holding out much hope but you never know!

Agree with you 100%. Again it's a question of should they have opened it now or kept waiting to see if they could fix the problems.

The current PR strategy seems like it's better to release a ride with tech issues than to delay it. And I suppose that's because there's no guarantee tech issues won't still happen after the delay. Test Track still has downtime. Heck, the People Mover still gets evacuated from time to time.

I am 133 and they are up to 68 right now. The CM I spoke to said their goal was to get through all the groups. I have my doubts. But it's all good.

Once you get a boarding group are you not guaranteed for that group to come up? That would make me worry all day if I was going to get on

I
Curious what the best guess recommendation for arrival tomorrow is. We are happy to get there early, but trying to decide whether early is 5, 6, or 7. Would appreciate any insight! Trying to keep up but this is a family trip and it is hard to read everything!
would again say 5am to 6am

there's no wait time cause the only way to access the ride is through the VQ
There aren't any wait times because they are using Virtual Queue/boarding passes for the ride.
Oh that's interesting! I haven't been following closely since I'm not planning to go for a bit. Is this how the line will be forever or just for the opening time?
