Apologies if this has been covered to death. I plan to buy Genie+ and IALL for Rise of the Resistance for our DHS day. Staying on site. At 7am, is it my best strategy to book my SDD G+ first, or my RotR IALL? I know the ideal strategy would be two people each setting up one or the other, but that’s not really a good option for me this trip.

I have also been researching this and from my reading it seems most people suggest getting Rise first at 7:00 because Slinky typically has more availability at 7:08-7:12 ish.

I think you might have your attractions mixed up. Rise will usually open a few spots back up in the 7:08-7:12 time period because people did not go through with their ILL$ purchase or it timed out. Slinky LL go much faster.

Last week I had great luck booking SDD first, then Rise. Even if Rise looked sold out at 7:05 am, bunches of slots would appear later, and those didn’t disappear nearly as quickly.

For my HS days, I Genie-dropped Slinky right at 7:00, and got times of 10:50 and 10:20 respectively. For Rise, the first day I fell victim to the “booking failure” glitch and was locked out of purchasing until 8:00 am. However, even then I was still able to get a 9:45 ILL, and saw tons available later than that. The second day I wasn’t planning to ride Rise at all. However, when I got to the park for EE and walked by it on the way to MFSR, I changed my mind. (Yeah, being at Disney does that to you!) Checked my tip board and was able to get an ILL for 1:55 pm - this was at 8:30 am.

The moral is that even if the ILLs look sold out, keep checking back. From what I saw, this works better for Rise than for Slinky.

How long is the stand-by wait for RoTR at rope drop (in general sense)? Thought about going there at RD, and then Genie+ or ILL the rest.

I've been watching the MDE app for wait times and if you can truly rope drop RotR at early entry you will likely get a wait that is less than 40 minutes BUT I see what seems like more days than not that the ride isn't working first thing in the morning. If the ride is down and doesn't go back up till after 9 then you're in line against all the $LL riders ....

I don't know how well my strategy will play out but we're planning to rope drop SDD because that one seems to consistently be running at the start of the day while RotR is a gamble to use those precious rope drop minutes!

Here are my recommendations for people who are trying to get LL for both Slinky and ROTR:

Slinky and ROTR Genie+/ILL$ Tips and Experiences | The DIS Disney Discussion Forums - DISboards.com

Every day that I have looked, both at home and onsite, times for Sinky have appeared between about 7:08 and 7:12 and those times generally stay longer than at the initial crush at 7:00:00. The return times tend to start around noon and move out through the afternoon and evening, though occasionally earlier times do appear.

If you want to see this for yourself, try it at home by checking Slinky about 7:08 and keep refreshing for a couple of minutes until times appear.

I would have one person book each ride, and preferably people who are experienced and know what they’re doing. I say this because we had two people booking and still almost missed Rise last week. It went quick. You can’t waffle, just go!

This may sound nuts, but can one person get both SDD and ROTR using two phones? My husband is a morning runner, without fail. So I will be the one getting rides at 7am, using my phone and his. Is this doable?

Given how quickly the booking process goes it’s hard for me to see how you could go much faster trying to bounce back and forth between two devices,

Having a second device handy might help if one freezes.

My plan is to get Smugglers Run LL and rope drop w early entry at SDD. I heard Smugglers is hard to get too but if SDD is crazy hard maybe this is better. My question is after SDD Rope Drop if we head toToT and RNRc will it be pretty dead for walk on as people head to headliners? We will be there at Easter so we already know there will be tons of people.

Smugglers is better to RD, they let people on around 8am ad you could still head to ToT and RnR, we did all three and stopped to take pics all ob=ver star wars it was priceless enjoying the early morning hours if you can use them. otherwise g+ for MfSR is a good play but only if you dont get slinky.

I would love to get SDD but would need it before 1:00 and they way people are talking that’s not likely. We have always had to run and rope drop SDD so I guess we know what to do. Has MMRR had reasonable waits

hard to tell from when I went I only wanted it that first day and that was enough, i bought LL because I knew I was waiting for Rise, and wanted to make the day smoother. Honestly the line was decent but I dont remember the posted wait

That's great information. Did you enter Galaxy's Edge from Toy Story Land or through the main portal? Did you have any choice?

Trying to find out the best way to get to Smugglers Run. I figure that through Toy Story Land would be less crowded.

Best way to GE is around Echo lake. Toy story will be jammed up with SDD fans. this is the best map I could find. The crowds split into 3 directions. straight down hollywood boulevard to MMRR or past it to SDD. both of these wont open to ride until exactly 8:30. another crowd heads down sunset to RnR/ToT, again line up on sunset and rides dont open until 8:30.
third crowd heads left at echo lake past star tours into GE. they will make someone scan magic band to confirm on site guest and then let you in at 8:00 my experience was to be let in even earlier. It is to manage the crowds at GE, this is unofficial but has been consistent.
note that if you go to Rise and its running you are likely to get both RoTR and MFSR before 9am. but after that avoid SDD unless you have a G+ because the line will be the longest at 9am

these times are based on 8:30 EE and 9:00 park open
to address your question though. through toy story land is not the best way to get to GE

Anyone with Genie+ can book a ride at 7am. Only people staying onsite can book an ILL at 7am - everyone else has to wait until park open. I suggest that you pin both to the top of your tip board for that day, grab Slinky first, and then get Rise. Also, they will often release extra ILL times for Rise around 7:08 to 7:15am, so keep refreshing. The one morning that I needed to do this exact thing on our recent trip, I got Slinky, jumped back and saw that Rise was showing at 5pm return times ... but I failed to click all the way through to book it before jumping back in the app to buy Runaway Railroad * 🤦‍♀️*. And of course by the time I realized that, it was 7:03 and all the Rise times were gone. But I stayed on the app, and at 7:15am, a bunch more times opened up. So it's absolutely doable.
