DBF has been out of work since Oct 30th with a double shoulder injury. Without explaining it 100% he does tree work- and works with his arms over his head all day- he hangs 147 feet from the ground on a crane, and spends the rest of his time climbing tree's.
He had a cortisone injection, did nothing. Started PT the 1st week of November Was referred to the Ortho in early December.
Had a Bone Scan Dec 20th and last wednesday we went to the surgeon for the results. The Bone Scan was just his left arm. He has been doing PT since November 3x a week...
The surgeon recommends rotator cuff surgery- to shave off the bone that is causing impingement. Nothing will be done to his muscles/tendons in this area- as its the bone that is formed wrong. Instead of being flat- its more bent down. When his arm lifts- it pinches.
Now- he's doing the left arm- the 24th- and then he said 4-6 months after that surgery- he will schedule the right arm. As soon as he is able to lay on his left arm, he will do the bone scan of the right.
He basically is telling DBF that he will be out of work for 10-12 months with these 2 surgeries.
BUT he didnt say anything about recovery- he did get fitted for that sling with the pillow, but what can I expect??? I need to know what he's going to need- does he need to sleep in the recliner? If so i gotta get one...
