You're missing a key "h" word - hateful. There's no comparison what is discussed on the The View and this tweet.

I also feel bad for the cast and crew. I was hoping since she is now in her 60's she would have calmed down, i guess not.

As someone in my 60’s & with many elderly relatives & friends, I can tell you people don’t calm down in their 60s. Nope, people get even more set in their ways & opinions. And many lose their filters, so out come the comments. Of course, that means that as an older person with racially, ethnically & politically diverse family & friends, I am becoming even less tolerant of Roseanne & her kind.

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them”. I read that on the Community Board all the time. Sure applies here.

Roseanne is a racist and ABC/Disney made the right decision. This is a financial decision, the blowback would have been huge if they didn't cancel.

What are these daily things on The View that are worse, one thing that equates to calling a POC a monkey, or "worse" as you state. I mean this respectfully, name one thing.

And as far as the others saying why would anyone be shocked, I don't do Twitter etc., or follow her, so never knew the extent of her talk or views being this bad. That was crazy. She doesn't even seem to really get it, she stated something like apologizing for her comment being distasteful, I mean that was way past distasteful, wow. It is so disturbing to me how people are saying things so easily nowadays that are just so shockingly bad. I see it everywhere and from people I never heard talk like that before (not Roseanne but in my personal life). Really sad.

Oh she’s had worse. I am not praising ABC for firing her. Shame on them for even hiring her in the first place. Her bigotry/ racism is part of her PR image. It is who she is. Read some where (twitter) an ABC exec said continue to be who you are ( racist) to attract a certain demo group but not racist enough we have to fire you. Even if her TV character was toned down, ABC money men were ching chinging on her followers of the real Roseane.

I have to come here and read comments to restore my faith in humanity. Where I live, the vast majority of online commenters are outraged by ABC's decision. It's good to know the rest of the world isn't completely insane.

I made the mistake of going to a certain news channel's facebook page. The hatred they are spewing against ABC and everyone/everything except Roseanne is mind numbing.

I was just thinking I really do feel bad about the rest of the cast and crew. Maybe they should’ve Given the show a chance without her. Keep everyone else on and see what happens and kill her off. It would’ve been social justice to maybe have her die in a house fire started by a tiki torch.

Not to defend Barr, as I find her comments way out of line, but for MSNBC to bring out Joy Reid to condemn Roseanne for making hurtful comments is pretty hypocritical.

I never even bothered to tune in. I was to busy watching re-runs of shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, The Andy Griffith Show, The Golden Girls and anything cheesy on the Hallmark channel (I love Good Witch). I hate to say this but as excited as so many were when this show came back I really didn't share in the excitement simply because I had a feeling the star would do something or say something or both to get the show canceled. Looks like I was right when I wasn't even trying to be.

Sorry I haven't read all the recent cancellation posts which I definitely will here soon but my thought:

Instead of killing off Dan (back in the day) let's just kill off Roseanne and have the show go on..... I know I would probably watch!!!

There’s an obvious double standard on TV wrt unconscionable statements by personalities. That said, I’m hard pressed to think of worse things than this tweet. Maybe some tie that I’m just not recalling, but there is no defending this tweet.

ABC made a business decision. I’m sure many there (and elsewhere) are thrilled that her Trump-friendly show is gone for ANY reason. But there’s no acting like this wasn’t a good enough reason to cancel.

ETA: And honestly — all of these actors tweeting about how disappointed in her they are... please. Some like Gilbert know her better than anyone. She thought she could squeeze some $$$ out of bringing Roseanne back, and was thus FINE with any of her past antics. NOW she’s shocked and disappointed?? Save it. JMO

Me too. I read the comments on an article Chip & CO. posted on Facebook and geez...there are some hateful people out there. More than one person was saying they're cancelling their Disney trip.
All I could think was yay....less crowds!

I am not surprised that it was said. Nor am I surprised that it was Roseanne that said it. There will always be entertainers that go for the lowest common denominator shock value kind of thing and Roseanne is one of them. And she's in to those tinfoil hat conspiracy theory sites. So pretty much something like this was probably predicable. So in that sense, I'm not surprised at all. Like I said up thread vintage Roseanne. But when I read it, I was surprised nonetheless.
