I use metrogel, and my mom takes tetracycline. I find that the tetracycline works better for me, but it interfers with birth control pills, so I cannot take it.
I am very hit or miss about using my metrogel, but I have found that Philosophy's "Purity" cleanser works wonders. It is very gentle. Also, alcohol and caffeine can cause the redness. Our doctor told us that rosacea keeps the blood cells in your nose and cheeks from closing all the way, resulting in the reddish nose and flushed cheeks. Alcohol and caffeine can stimulate the blood cells, so if you try to limit your intake, it can help a little bit.
