We have never done HS before.
DD5 would love TSM. No FP during April and I do not want to arrive to long before RD with her.

Will be there April 24. Easter and Spring is over. Crowds are hopefully not too bad. Park opening at 9.
When should we arrive to beat at least parts of the crowds, but not to early to get DD bored before opening.

Depends how long you want to wait in the TSMM line, but I think you’d want to arrive at DHS between 8:05-8:15. Can you pack breakfast to eat while waiting, apply sunscreen, etc. That’s how we pass the time.

Keep an eye here on the boards to see how things go. Once the FP goes away and it's standby only, there should be several reports of what happens with that line and how quickly wait times build.

However, I'm with PP. You're going to want to be there no later than 8:15 to be towards the front of the crowds. Even then, I'm wondering if we're going to see the return of the "running with the bulls" to get to TSM. I hope not, but we just don't know how this is going to play out yet.

I would get there an hour to 45 minutes early when they let you in. ( most of the time 30 minutes before park opens) they will stop you just inside of the park and then they will walk you to the rides if you are close to the front you whole get on with little wait if you get there at 9 am I would think your wait could be 45-60 minutes

Thank you.
Ich will wait for some reports.

I don't think we want to run with the crowds. And an hour wait is more than I want to wait with our 5yo.
If it is too long we probably skip it.

In October, it was very very crowded during our trip. We arrived at DHS at 8:20am for a 9:00am opening. At approximately 8:40, they let people through the turnstiles. We walked down to Echo Lake and CMs had us stop and wait there until park opening. Then at that point, the CMs walked us to Toy Story (there was no running. Not allowed to pass the leading CMs). We waited less than 10 minutes to board the ride. By the time we exited the ride, it was already posted at 60 minutes. It was just my DH and I for this trip so no kids to entertain. I don't think it would have been unreasonable if they had been with us though (7, 6 and 4) to wait at the turnstiles like we did. 60 minutes in the ride queue? Not sure about that.

Josh has a really useful post on rope dropping TSMM with its current conditions, which is two tracks running instead of three. In April, it’s predicted to only have one track running. He walked on the ride at rope drop, and by the time he got off at 9:10, the wait was posted at 55 minutes already (which he thought was probably accurate.) It will only get worse in April if they shut down another track. If you want to ride it, your best bet is getting there by 8:00am.
