Rope Drop vs Park Close

how does early vs. late play out now with newer rules and 'skip the line' options?

The new rules pull more guests into the parks earlier and earlier. The thinking is that you need to book your first pass as early as possible to start on the rolling #4.

Time isn’t free, and those early arrivals will tire out and head out of the parks even earlier leaving the evenings even more wide open than they already are.

I absolutely love late nights at MK during Christmas week. Midnight to 2am is the best time for rides. The only negative is that there is pretty much no food available after 11:00.
Do you know the EEH for Christmas week and parks?

I hate getting up super early on days I don't have to, so I'll start by saying I've never rope dropped a park lol. However, last trip my family took we basically divided ourselves into rope droppers and late nighters - IE, my dad and brothers went first thing in the morning and my mom, sister in law, and myself would roll in around 10 am. Both options will give you some great access to attractions, so really its just a matter of what works best for you.

Personally, I love being in the parks as late as possible. I think of it this way - if you get there early, more people will be arriving in the park as time goes on. If you stay late, more people will leave the park as the night goes on. This is especially true if you're a deluxe resort guest with access to EEH.

If you get there early, you can ride all day, whether early or late.

If you get there late, you cannot ride earlier in the day. This means that if you plan on riding a ride only late, you might be unable to ride the ride. Maybe it's broken down, maybe the weather is bad, maybe the line is too long.

There's a finite number of hours that a park is open. If you aren't there, you can't enjoy things that are happening in the park. If you are OK with that, then there's no problem either way.

But if you get there too early then it's very likely that you will tire out and leave before the lines get short. For us, the key is knowing when we can arrive and still get the most efficient use of our time.
