Rope Drop 7DMT or keep my 4:35 FP

I plan on rope dropping MK for a 9:00 am opening. I currently have a FP at 10:50 (space) and 11:50 (PPF) , and 7DMT FP at 4:35. Splash is closed this day. My plan was to rope drop and do Big Thunder -> Pirates -> Jungle Cruise. My dilemma is if I wait for 7DMT at 4:35, I won't be able to grab more FP until then. Am I better off getting a FP for Pirates at 12:50 and Rope dropping 7DMT -> Big Thunder? then I get start FP's again at 12:50 (four hours earlier)

I would try to get one of the big ones moved up earlier (BTM, Space, PFF, or 7DMT). If you could get one of those in the 9-9:30 type range then get rid of the later 7DMT. If you can get 7DMT for the AM then rope drop something else....if you can't then RD 7DMT. After using the first FP look to move up tour 2nd and then the same for the 3rd. Get to using additional FP's earlier and rides such as Jungle Cruise and Pirates ought to be easy to add FP's for. If you have a large group I may change that advice a bit as it can be harder to accomplish but I'd go with something similar either way.

We had a late 7DMT for our March trip-we started out grabbing the first one we could get at 340, but have continually been modifying it-first to a 230 one, finally a 105. I would keep trying to modify, especially 30 days before as packages are canceled on this date, and five days before, as room only reservations are canceled at this date. You could still try rope drop this. I agree with PP to modify as early as you can get all three, but I wouldn't cancel 7DMT in case RD crowds are massive, or you miss RD for some unavoidable reason-happened to us before! I would advise to never cancel a desired FP but try to modify as often as you can.

I'd rope drop 7D, but keep trying to update the FP. The last time we went there were some serious issues w/ the FP+ system and we couldn't get more FPs for many of the days (crowd level 4) so getting more FP's isn't a given.

I'd definitely rope drop 7D. If you're really committed and get there early enough to get to the front of the pack, you can do that and still pretty much walk on BTM, Pirates and Jungle Cruise before your first FP. And agree with those that say keep looking to move some up. MK is by far the easiest park to get add'l FP for during the day. I try to always get my FP for 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 for MK. I'll go standby for rides until about 10:15 and do my first two FP back to back and then the 3rd right at 11:30 (unless I can further move it up) and then get add'l FP for rest of day.

I would keep it and then try to modify on the day you are there to get an earlier time, as they sometimes release extra FP on the day of. Would much rather have an afternoon FP than deal with the rope drop crush—I prefer rope dropping frontierland where the opening crowds are much less.

7DMT rope drop was THE biggest mad rush I have ever seen. You are FAR better off going to SM, Buzz, TS - you could do all of these in the time you will wait for 7DMT at rope drop.

You can keep checking for a better time frame for Seven Dwarfs. Sometimes it helps if you move your other fastpasses for earlier to open up some for SDMT.
We have been able to get SDMT while in the park by refreshing the app over and over. This refreshing does not work as well out of the park but you can check every so often for a better time.

Agree.
Keep the FP and try to RD 7DMT. You may find the line at RD still to long and go do smething else. You may find its enough fun to do twice, with our FP.
You can always ride it at RD, cancel the FP and get another one.

Exactly. We never rope drop 7DMT, it's a mass of people. Still be there early, get yourself an awesome picture in front of the castle with no one in it, and head to Big Thunder, Splash (if it's open), Jungle, etc. A 4:35pm FP wouldn't kill me, but like others said, you'll probably be able to pull something earlier while there.
