Why do some rooms show up active online instead of going to the waitlist ?

I was able to snag a 1 bedroom at Kidani for December 31st. however nothing else came up last week. I am wait listed for SSR. The rest of our trip starts at SSR and ends with 6 nights at the Boardwalk. What are the chances of the December 31st. wait list coming through for SSR 1 bedroom ??? :)

I'm not sure what you are referring to as "active online". If you are looking at the regular Disney site, rather than the DVC member site, you are looking at two different things. Those available to the general public on the Disney site are rooms that have been turned over to CRO because members have traded out to DCL, ABD, other non-DVC resorts.

Sorry I am referring to DVC website. :) The wait list should pick up first before it goes active online however is that always the case ? Should I have to keep searching and searching if I have a wait list submitted ?

I am trying to convince myself to relax and let the wait list work however I remember in the past seeing some people seeing rooms they had wait listed show up online.

Yes, on the DVC web site they should have filled your wait list first. I'd call MS right now.

Ihave been told that the waitlist process is not "real-time". It is a batch process. I do not know exactly when it is run - best guess is that it is run several times a day. AFAIK, no one here knows the exact schedule.

When a cancellation occurs, the nights go right back into inventory. It is possible for someone to book those nights before the waitlist batch program is run and takes the nights out of general inventory.

If you have waitlisted 2 or more consecutive nights, you will match only if all of those nights become available. If individual nights are available, they will not go to fill multiple nights in a waitlist request.

If you see any of the nights available that you have waitlisted, I would reserve those and then remove the same nights from your waitlist.

Good luck! :)

I have been told by DVC more than once that the matches are made after close of business nightly. The matched list is manually worked the following day by CM's due to the complexity of the process.

Others have been told a different story so bottom line is no one knows for sure.

We do know that members have been able to grab dates during the day that they have pending waitlist for.

I have had a waitlist for 1 night of my stay for over 2 months now. I check the dvc site everyday sometimes several times a day to see if anything becomes available because I have seen availability changes I much in the last 2 months! This afternoon I snagged the ronni had in waitlist- I saw it online, called MS and they booked it for me. Then I asked them to cancel my waitlist for that room. If I were you I would use a combination of waitlist/periodical checking yourself - just to increase your odds if getting what you want. Good luck!

I had a wait list filled at 3:30 in the afternoon. I actually had two separate nights wait listed and happened to see one of them pop up as available on the website. I was able to grab it, and then noticed that my other night was also fulfilled. Somehow the wait list was booking one room while I was grabbing the other.

Keep in mind that you never know where you fall on the list. You might see a night available, and it could get gobbled up by the wait list for someone ahead of you in line.

I agree with Bill, we've seen various reports. However none of that matters because the fact is that often the days do show up online with the way the WL is done. There's no reason to call about it unless one wants to complain about the big picture.

I have ALWAYS hit my waitlist------
I got the Beach Club over spring break...and I just hit Grand Floridian over Tgiv. The key is put your waitlist in ASAP-like as soon as you book your DVC travel- and be patient

I check for availability when I have a waitlist. In the 6 years I have been a member, MS has filled waitlists 2 times. I have found the rooms I wanted many many many times.
