Has anyone else had problems with their resort rooms not being ready by 3:00? We stayed at CR and POR last week, and neither of them was ready by 3:00. At the CR, our room was finally ready at about 4:45 (while we waited surrounded by luggage in the lobby.) At POR, our room was ready at about the same time--4:45 or so. Is this a trend?

I am checking into POR this Wenesday. Was planning on being there by 1pm and hoping my room will Be ready then. I have previously stayed at POR and CBR and both times my room was ready when I arrived around 1 pm. Hopefuuly it will be this time too.

Rooms aren't guaranteed at 3:00 or 4:00 (if a DVC or value resort), that's when check-in officially begins. WDW resorts don't actually guarantee rooms until 2 hours past check-in, so 5:00 for deluxe and mods and 6:00 for DVC and values.

Maybe it's the day you checked it.
I think Friday & Sat are big check in days.

At the Dolphin - it took till 5 pm to have a room ready on a Saturday.

At the CR we arrived at 11:30 AM on a Thursday and our room was ready.

So the day of the week may make a difference :)

I did not know that.......5:00 check-in for a $300-$400 per night deluxe hotel?????? Wow!

We plan to arrive at the Poly early on Sat.We know nothing will be ready, but we'll store our bags & hit the pool .Does anyone know what time guest services opens ? We may just purchase our MYW tickets & go to MK or Epcot for a while instead.

Ron

I have never had to wait for a room to be ready and I always arrive before noon.

I've checked in as early as 7 AM (SSR) and had a room ready. Most of the time we get there about 11 AM and about half the time we got right into our room. The latest we got into our room was 5:30 once at OKW.

I don't know...5 or 6 seems very late to me, I would be upset having had just flown or even been driving for days :earseek: Seems I read a post that suggested WDW was quite understaffed these days...with the chang in season and the dining package and schools getting out and so on, it seems like WDW might be having kinda a transition problem here. Don't know and haven't been but I know if I am paying 300 a night to stay somewhere I better get my full time in or be comped in some way. 3 or 4 at the latest IMO. Anyway...other than the check in how were the resorts?? I am hearing awful things about CR :guilty: and I am nervous about this...can you tell me what you thought of the resorts and parks???? The OP...I mean...thanks

Last November we stayed at AKL and our room wasn't ready until 5:30. We were at MGM so it wasn't a problem.

Yep, it's true, and I only know because it happened to me. I was checking in at the Poly and arrived around 11:30. Got the usual spiel, room not ready, check-in not until 3:00, call to check when room is ready.... etc. Anyway, kept calling, nothing, at 3:30, went back to Poly because had tired kids and room still not ready. Sat in lobby of Poly and kept checking with front desk. At this time, we couldn't go anywhere since it was POURING!!! Kept asking, and kept being told room not ready. I asked for another room, but nothing available. At 5:00 I asked for the manager, who then told me the policy that rooms aren't guaranteed until 5:00, and later at other resorts. She then went and personally checked to see when my room would be cleaned, and when she returned about 15 minutes later, we were given the all clear. So, this is definately the policy, though not the norm and usually only happens when you get assigned the last room to be cleaned on a mousekeeppers shift and the resort is sold out. It is probably more bad luck than anything else, though my experience shows it can happen.

oh well...I guess if doing ME it really doesn't matter...carry on some stuff and head to the parks or tour a resort or tour your own resort...or eat an early dinner...I will be prepared for this!! thanks

We stayed at the GRF RPC last summer, arriving on a Sunday. We arrived about 1:00, told to check back in 1/2 hour. Keep checking back. Finally at 4:45, I had it and complained. Our room was apparently ready, but needed to be checked by I guess a 'head housekeeper". All it took was a final check. For $500 - $600 a night this was unacceptable.

While this has never happened to us at a Disney hotel it did happen to my husband and I in Vegas this year. Our room at the Flamingo was not ready until almost 6:00 PM. We did request a strip view room, king bed and newly renovated. We got exactly what we wanted so the wait was worth it.

okay - make sure when you go to check in - if you have preferences, you may have to wait longer BUT you can ask if there are any rooms available now or we will take the next ones ready. Sometimes the CM are trying so hard to accomodate preferences, that trying to get all the rooms squared away are hard. Also Sat/Sun are big turnover days. Getting all the rooms cleaned between 11am and 3pm can be hard sometimes. You have to plan on not getting your room around check in time, take your bathing suit, some extra clothes etc... and go have fun!!!

The Poly doesn't even list check in until AFTER 4pm. Not at 4pm and not before. I travel quite a bit and find that to be quite common.

we will be in on a Wed afternoon so I doubt this will happen to us but who knows...

Check-ins actually were quite fast...the rooms were just not ready! The parks were crowded to me. We have been there during this exact time for the last three years, and this year has seemed to be the most crowded yet. We arrived on May 30 and left on June 10, so I thought that we would beat the out-of-school crowds like in previous years (and we may have...the crowds may get even bigger). Anyway, the resorts seemed to be full. In the parks, most fastpasses were gone by 4-5:00, which could be a problem if you are there for the EMH until 2:00 am--you absolutely must be there at opening. During the first hour or two, we rode 8-9 rides. Later in the day (after 10:30 or so), we rode 1 per hour. It is very crowded at MK openings, too, but everyone must go to the Mountains first, so Fantasyland isn't too bad then. We found that any park with EMH was a packed park for the entire day. After trying one late EMH, we didn't attempt any more; everyone had a bracelet and the lines didn't diminish much, if any.

If you want Soarin', be there at opening and go straight there, walking quickly. We were on the first ride of the day doing this, but when we came out 15 minutes later, the line was all of the way through the long queue area, up the stairs in the food court area of The Land, and wound all of the way around toward the entry doors of The Land pavilion...and this was Thursday, June 2!

We stayed in the North wing of CR; we've stayed in the Towers b/f but not on this trip. We love the CR although it is beginning to show its age. They have begun remodeling now--the South wing is closed now until Oct., I think. The food court is not great--the POR food court is much, much better, but the CR food court is adequate. Basically, you are paying for the location and the size of the room , which is wonderful, BTW. The separate toilet is great for families. The marble in the bathrooms is beautiful. It is not a resort that is hugely-themed, but it has well-manicured, formal grounds with a nice marina and a monorail that goes right through it. That is its charm.
